You can get to Korea's major cities in 1 - 2.5 hours with the SRT. Let's take a look at what each city is famous for.
Busan
Busan is Korea's second-largest city and is often visited for tourism purposes. It's a coastal city so there are several beautiful beaches and the night view is amazing because of its tall buildings. It may be on the other side of the country, but the visit is worth it and it only takes 2.5 hours to get there on the SRT.
Haeundae Beach is the most popular beach in Busan. It is where Koreans visit when they want to enjoy summer to the fullest. The beaches are long and the food is great, what's not to love?
The temple in the picture above is called Haedong Yonggungsa. It is located on a cliff which makes it unique from all the other temples in Korea. The view from the temple is immaculate and definitely worth the visit. Breathe in the fresh ocean air and heal your soul at this temple.
Daegu
There are tons of places to visit near Seo Daegu Station, all worth a visit!
The 83 Tower and E-World are the most popular tourist attractions in Daegu. They often hold festivals like the lantern flying festival. The lanterns floating up into the sky look like a scene from a movie. It's a special moment that is worth sharing with special people like friends, family, or lovers.
Daegu's Seomun Market was open since the Joseon Dynasty. Talk about a long history! The market has all sorts of street food snacks and fresh produce. It'd be fun to visit to grab something to eat and look at what types of groceries Koreans get.
Gyeongju
Gyeongju in itself is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The city is full of historic sites and artifacts because it was the capital of the ancient kingdom of Shilla. Everywhere you go has significance in Korea's history.
Gyeongju's Kyochon Hanok Village is where original hanoks still remain. A lot of the stories mentioned in the Memorabilia of the Three Kingdoms originate in this village. Nearby is the Cheomseongdae, the oldest surviving astronomical structure in Asia, and other historic sites. If you're interested in Korean history, Gyeongju is a must-visit city.
These may look like small hills, but they are actually ancient tombs. Under these tombs, Korean royals were buried during Shilla Kingdom rule. The park surrounding these 'neungs' are great for leisurely strolls and you will be shocked at how big these tombs actually are in person.
Bulguksa is another UNESCO World Heritage Site located in Gyeongju. The temple itself is huge and is especially visited in the Fall when the scenery is on another level. Take the SRT and visit Gyeongju for a day or two. You won't regret it!
