What to Expect
Gongju Gongsanseong Fortress
Gongsanseong Fortress is a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site, which once protected the capital of Baekje. The fortress stretches for 2,660 meters, with the eastern 735 meters made of earthworks and the rest built with stone walls. The current fortress is believed to have been constructed during the Joseon Dynasty.
Within Gongsanseong Fortress, numerous historical relics remain, and you can also observe buildings that serve various functions.
Geumgang Bridge
Geumgang Railroad Bridge, completed in 1933, is a representative modern cultural asset of Gongju. Recognized for its cultural heritage value, it was designated as a National Registered Cultural Heritage in March 2006. When the Second Geumgang Bridge opens in 2026, the current Geumgang Railroad Bridge will be converted into a pedestrian-only bridge.
Following Kim Jaejoong's Vlog
Jemincheon is a stream that originates in Geumhak-dong and flows into the Geum River. It is one of the representative visiting courses in Gongju. Although it is a small stream with a length of 4.2 km and a width of about 5 meters, Gongju city is shaped along the Jemincheon.
Cafe Bach, while not a modern-style cafe, exudes a sense of time with its interior that provides a comforting ambiance. Moreover, it offers brunch sets that are perfect for indulging in a leisurely meal, making it a popular spot for those who come to study as well.
The hanok (traditional Korean house) in Gongju Hanok Village showcases a harmonious blend of modernity and tradition. Furthermore, the doors and windows of the hanok in Gongju Hanok Village are adorned with traditional-style latticework both indoors and outdoors, evoking a sense of nostalgia while exuding beauty. Additionally, the pavilion seen in the second picture is where Kim Jaejoong sat and filmed his vlog. Since then, many tourists have visited this spot.
Nogisoon Cheonggukjang, visited by Kim Jaejoong, has gained even greater fame as the winner of the 'Korean Food War' competition. Here, you can taste a light yet flavorful cheonggukjang (fermented soybean paste stew), reminiscent of doenjang-guk (soybean paste soup) and cheonggukjang flavors.
We will visit places like Jemincheon, which flows through the heart of Modern Culture Street, and cafes. Gongju is the hometown of JYJ's Jaejoong, and you can catch a glimpse of his alma mater's exterior, making it a must-visit for fans.
