Our Visit
We arrived right around 11:30 when they open for the day, so it was not too busy yet.
The unique charm of Insadong can really be felt and enjoyed on the short walk from the subway station.
Upon entering, there is a closet to put your shoes in since this is a traditional Korean-style restaurant.
They have photos on the wall by the entrance of famous vegetarians and vegans, which is fun to look at.
As you walk through the restaurant, you can see large bowls and platters with food being prepped for the day.
The interior is the classic Hanok look of natural wood and white walls.
The skylight lets in nice natural light and the plants evoke courtyard vibes.
Brown Rice Soy Meat with Vegetables
12,000 won
A classic Korean staple, but in meat-free form!
This was delicious and almost indiscernible from real meat.
The flavor profile was true to the original and the variety of side dishes to use as toppings in lettuce wraps really added to it overall.
Spicy Soft Tofu Stew
10,000 won
They offer both a spicy and mild version of this famous Korean stew.
We ordered the spicy one because we love a bit of heat, but if that's not your thing, don't worry, you can order the non-spicy version.
They hand make their own tofu here, which is impressive.
Vegan Fried Chicken (Small)
7,000 won
Crispy and savory as Korean fried chicken should be.
We ordered the plain one, though they do also offer a sweet & spicy version.
It was a little dry on its own, but we found dipping it in the soft tofu stew was a delicious combo!
The food was very filling and we found we were unable to finish it all.
We left feeling very satisfied and I don't think this will be our last visit.
