Step Into The 90s At The Trendy Retro Cafe Yudal Milk In Mokpo
What did the 90s look like in Korea? Our visit to the Korean retro cafe Yudal Milk in Mokpo.
In the city of Mokpo, there is a charming old cafe that takes you back to the past.
If you get the chance to visit Mokpo, we recommend adding Cafe Yudal Milk (카페 유달유업) to your list.
It's a very popular cafe among both its residents in the area and tourists.
Cafes in Mokpo are trending in Korea these days. This cafe is a retro-style cafe that will take us on a time machine back to the 90s.
It's only a short bus ride on bus number 13 or 6 from the KTX Mokpo train station. Just get off at Seobu Elementary School (서부 초등학교 정류장) stop which is only a 10-minute ride.
The cafe has a strong retro vibe, even the menu is very unique!
It feels as if you're flipping through an old magazine.
Each page has a different type of menu which includes coffees, juices, soft drinks, and more.
As for drinks, their most popular menu involves milk that they created at the cafe.
You can take the glass bottle as a souvenir after paying a small price of 500 won which is worth it in my opinion.
They also sell their own cups and glasses at affordable prices!
The cafe also has sweets and snacks that were very popular in the past in Korea.
For many Koreans, these snacks will bring back some old nostalgic childhood memories.
The fridge looks exactly like the ones that were used back in the days.
Even the radio set above the fridge gives me retro vibes. Does anyone still own a radio these days?
For those that wish they styled their outfits better to fit the concept of this cafe, don't worry! They have vintage clothes you can wear to match the atmosphere for pictures.
There's also a traditional Korean arcade game machine for those that want to play.
I, of course, had to play with our friends!
It's very easy and fun. Just press the start button and stop button. If you win, you'll receive some prize money!
It costs 100 won to play but if you don't have any change, you can exchange it for some change at the counter.
We ordered their strawberry milk and earl gray milk tea. Both were 5,500 won and they came on this simple tray.
Don't forget to shake the milk well before drinking. The store owner recommends shaking it a lot.
The milk tasted very delicious!
They also gave us some candy! It's a classic flavor that has existed in Korea for a long time.
It tastes like mint and it's not very sweet.
The cafe is very popular and there have been many celebrities who visited as you can see in the photo above.
They also received an award for using recyclable glass and being eco-friendly.
From the outside, the cafe looks pretty small. But actually, there are many seats inside. There are various vintage-style seats to choose from!
The sofa area is where a lot of people like to come to take pictures, so don't miss out.
Every little decoration around the cafe is vintage. You can tell that they paid a lot of attention to the small details.
Next to the area at the front, different sections are set up.
The first section has two tables that feel like you're sitting in a house from the past or on set for Reply 1988.
There is another area where you can sit comfortably on the floor, true Korean-style.
It's actually not recommended since it's not so private and is quite cramped.
But you're more than welcome to make yourself comfortable in this little corner.
The next area has a big table for 4 people. It also has a bathtub that's another popular photo zone.
It feels like you're visiting a cozy old Korean house in the winter as there is an old heater that's placed there.
We were very impressed and definitely want to visit again just to sit at all the different tables with various styles.
It's a cafe with many charms!
The last area is reserved for female customers only because it's close to the women's washroom which is very considerate of them.
