Most stores closed after 16:00
Immediately after walking out of Exit 9 of Dongdaemun Station, you will see the entrance of Dongdaemun Shopping Complex (동대문종합시장). After walking in, follow the red signs on the ground until you reach the accessories market on the 5th floor.
You can take the elevator or the stairs. The entire 5th floor is the wholesale market for accessories.
The shops here are very similar to one another, so it's easy to get lost. But each store has a number you can refer to.
Pro-tip, you can search the hashtags #부자재상가, #부자재 on Instagram ahead of time and research what type of accessories you hope to find.
Most posts will indicate the store number, if not, you can take a screenshot and ask the store if they have something similar.
Unlike the other wholesale markets, where products are sold in bulk, most of the accessories here can be bought individually or in small portions.
There are also lots of pre-made accessories available for purchase at much cheaper prices than we expected.
We highly recommend a visit if you're a big jewelry lover.
There are a lot of cute things here and we ended up buying a lot more than we had planned.
From basic rings, beads, to cute character pendents there is really something for anyone.
Something to be aware of, most stores may prohibit photos so please ask before doing so!
The prices generally range from 200 won to 2,000 won each, which is very cheap.
A lot of Korean girls will come here to gather supplies to make their own accessories.
After browsing the market, we decided to make an AirPods case with the material we brought. Pictured above is everything we needed to create it.
We love that we were able to make this for less than what it would cost at a store.
It was also special since it was handmade. It's a nice hobby to pick up during this time!
We are really proud of the finished product. What do you all think, should we open an Etsy shop?
An important thing to keep in mind is that most of the stores here only accept Korean cash or bank transfers. However, there is an ATM machine on the 5th floor for your convenience.
If you normally shop with a credit card, be sure to bring cash before you come here to shop!
Do you like Korean accessories but think they're too expensive to purchase from retail stores? Why not come here to buy material to create your own unique jewelry?
