Yellow Themed Cafes In Seoul To Brighten Up Your Day
Introducing 3 yellow themed cafes in Seoul that are too cute to miss. Which one is your favourite?
There are so many cafes in Korea that it's hard to decide where to go sometimes! So how about choosing the color of the cafe first? Today we wanted to introduce 3 different cafes with yellow theme. Especially with the weather warming up, these yellow themed cafes are the perfect way to enjoy the spring and summer season!
Butter Book
Address: 서울특별시 해방촌 용산구 신흥로15길 20
31-2 Yongsandong 2(i) ga, Yongsan-gu, Seoul
Hours: Tues-Sun: 11:00-20:00 Mon: Closed
The first yellow-themed cafe we went to is Butter Book located near Noksapyeong Station. This cafe has been all over Instagram and very popular amongst locals. Looking at the cafe's lovely lemon-colored entrance, you can get a sense of how cute it's going to be, right?
Although the cafe itself isn't very large, it's divided into indoor and outdoor areas. On a nice sunny day, the outdoor seating would be so nice!
There are not many drinks, most of them are bottled milk.
We arrived around 11:30 and they were still preparing a lot of their desserts.
The workers told us to wait about 10 minutes and they'll bring out even more freshly baked desserts for us.
While we were waiting, we decided to order some ice cream. It all looked so cute and delicious!
We ordered a raspberry donut and black sesame ice cream. We also got a bottle of milk tea!
Their raspberry donut (4,500 KRW) is their signature dessert at this cafe. If you search up their cafe on Instagram, you will likely see posts that are filled with these donuts.
The first bite tastes sour and sweet, it tasted really great! We can understand the hype on social media.
We actually wanted to order our ice cream in a cone, but they're only available in cups. Although the appearance looks unfamiliar, it was delicious! We got the Black Sesame + Jeju Citrus Ice Cream (5,300 KRW). The black sesame is very popular in Korea and is very flavorful. There was also Jeju citrus in the ice cream which made it very unique and refreshing.
We also tried out the Bottled Milk Tea (5,000 KRW). Once you open this bottle, you will smell the strong milk tea scent. It's very smooth to drink!
Out of a score of 10, we give this cafe a solid 9.5. The desserts and drinks tasted amazing, however, a lot of its desserts on the menu weren't fully prepared since we went too early.
Riverway
Location: 서울 마포구 합정동 410-17 1층 리버웨이
410-17 Hapjeong-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul
Hours: Mon: Closed, Tues-Fri: 12:00-22:00, Sat-Sun: 12:30-21:00
The second cafe we wanted to introduce is a vegetarian cafe called Riverway. This small cafe is run by a Korean and Columbian couple. Doesn't it look so exotic? We heard that there are long queues on weekends so we went at dusk on a weekday and there weren't as many customers.
After choosing a seat, we went to the counter to make our order. There are English and Korean translations on the menu for foreigners to easily make their orders.
The interior of the cafe made my heart warm and I could feel how passionate the owners were towards the cafe.
This cafe showcases the couple's travel history on its walls which was so beautiful. We can't wait for the pandemic to end soon so we can fly around!
We ordered the signature menu Riverway Granola Bowl (9,000 KRW) with a cup of Green Tea Latte (7,000 KRW). With every order, you will get these cute coupons! If you collect 8 of these, you can get a free cup of Americano!
When you order, you can choose between yogurt, whole milk, soy milk, or almond milk. We went with the yogurt and we felt so healthy!
We thought that the cream on top of the latte made the drink so good! It wasn't too bitter or sweet.
Before we left, we saw that everyone snapped a photo here so we took one too!
Cafe Birkin
Address: 서울 마포구 양화로6길 28
28 Yanghwa-ro 6-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul
Hours: 11:00-23:00
This cafe is located near Sangsu Station. The reviews of this cafe online are quite high, with a score of 4.4 out of 5.0! There are also hundreds of blogs available online. We arrived at the cafe around 3 o'clock and there weren't many people during that time.
The desserts at this cafe looked delicious and most of them were wrapped to prevent dryness.
After choosing a seat, we made our way over to the counter to place our order. The menu is mainly divided into coffee and non-coffee drinks. There were also English and Korean available so it was easier for us to order.
In addition, if you are interested in buying any desserts to take home, you can take them to-go in this cute container!
We picked the Monster Cookie (4,500 KRW), Grapefruit Ade (7,000 KRW) and Sweet Cream Mugwort Latte (6,000 KRW).
This drink was a surprise to me as I haven't tried a mugwort latte before. I tried it out of curiosity and didn't expect it to be sweet. Together with the sour cream, it was so delicious! I highly recommend this drink for those who haven't tried it.
Compared to the mugwort latte above, this grapefruit ade was quite disappointing. Although the drink was refreshing, it had a bitter taste which I didn't like.
Since we saw this cookie all over my feed on social media, we had high expectations of this! And they were amazing! It wasn't too sweet and perfect as a dessert.
We tried to cut it with the fork we got, but it was so messy! We definitely recommend just washing your hands and breaking them apart.
We then quickly ran over to this seat to take a photo when we saw someone getting up.
We hope that you can enjoy these yellow and bright cafes for the spring and summer season during your trip to Korea!
