I stayed at the 57 Myeongdong Hostel for two and a half weeks this summer. The location was very convenient- just one block from metro station and Namdaemun market and steps away from restaurants, shopping and great street food at the Myeongdong night market. The hostel was clean and safe. We stayed one night in a smaller standard room and the rest of our stay in a deluxe room with a view. Both rooms were pleasant, comfortable, clean and as represented on the website. The included breakfast provided a lot of choices and it was a great way to start the day. I enjoyed the rooftop picnic tables. The view was beautiful and gave me a peaceful way to experience the city. The staff spoke English so well and they were kind and helpful. They patiently answered lots of questions for this inexperienced traveler and made my trip with my daughter so much easier and relaxing. This is a hostel and so of course it is a different experience than a luxury hotel but that is exactly what I wanted. Little things like washing your own dishes with other guests gave me the chance to connect with travelers from other countries which added richness to my travel experience. Last but not least, the very reasonable price allowed me the freedom to spend money on activities that we really enjoyed while we were in Seoul. Thank you to all of the staff for making my trip so memorable. (Especially the lovely man at the entry on the first floor who never failed to wish me a good day and welcome me home.) We look forward to staying with you again on our next trip to Korea.

We really enjoyed our stay here. It is a hostel, not a hotel, so it's not perfect but it's excellent for the price and location. The staff were great and gave us excellent restaurant recommendations. Our room wasn't huge but not too small for two people. The bathroom is very small but we were glad to have our own bathroom. The location couldn't be more convenient.

We stayed for 6 nights here. 57 Myeongdong is located on the 11th, 12th and 13th floor and the lobby is on 13th floor. The elevator goes to 13th floor but you have to take the stairs to the terrace, which is on the 14th floor. After you check-in, the receptionist explains everything about the hostel. (You have to let the staff know if you want your waste bin to be cleaned etc.)
Rooms were quite small but the view was just amazing. Plus, our room (number 1314) was located at the corner, which means we had two windows, so we doubled our view!
One of the coolest things about 57 Myeongdong Hostel is the terrace! Some days we had our dinner there (you can bring take away food as long as you clean after you) and some days we drank beer. You can also see N Seoul Tower from the terrace! But there are only three tables there. Please add more tables!
There is different WiFi connection for each room and every room has its own password. Therefore, the internet speed is quite fast.
57 Myeongdong Hostel has a bad breakfast arrangement. It lasts from 7 am to 10 am but there are only 3-4 tables for the whole three-floor. Sometimes you have to wait for people to finish their breakfast and this is the last thing you want when you booked a tour and you have to leave the hostel early. :/ And, I find this really strange but everyone has to wash their own dishes. This is hygienically wrong. After you wash your tableware, the staff wipes it with a cloth and that’s it. They put the tableware on the counter again for re-use. How can I trust other people, and vice versa — how can they trust me, what if they didn’t clean it properly? This is concerning.
When you enter the building, there is a 83-year-old uncle in his little hut. He’s there until evening. If you see him, please say hi to him, he’s a lovely person! I taught him how to say “hi” and “thank you” in Turkish and we took a photo together, great memory!

the hotel location is really convenient! we couldn’t expect better location for our second trip to seoul. the room was a bit small but it wasn’t a problem for us! however, the wifi wasn’t really good in our room, got a lot of connection problem during our stay. Having a breakfast included in the price of our booking was also really good! there were a lot of choices and everyday has different food options

The location is superb. Just a couple minutes away from the subway station and the busy area. The pictures made the room look a bit larger than they actually were. The walls are thin that we could hear the next door. However, the staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast includes the basic toast and stuff, and specialties: Korean dumplings or congee or curry depending on the day!
