Our Visit
As you can see, the aquarium is located in the COEX mall and is accessible to anyone walking by. There were many people taking photos of the fish outside.
Once you enter through the gates, you'll see a ticket office. You can show your voucher here after making your reservations on Creatrip.
There is the entrance to the aquarium on the right, a coin locker for 1,000 won, and a vending machine on the left.
We did a lot of shopping prior so we needed to use the lockers here.
If there is not enough space, there are more lockers available for you once you enter the aquarium so don't panic! The lockers inside are free to use as well.
But if you decide to keep it here, you need to talk to the staff again to get back inside to pick up your things after you have finished looking around.
If you walk further back, there is a washroom and a nursing room.
There are washrooms inside but you have to walk a lot so it's recommended to use the washroom before walking in.
It may look small but it takes about an hour and a half to complete your trip around the aquarium and there are many exhibitions to look at along the way too.
The experience starts when you go up the escalator to the second floor but the strollers are prohibited so you have to carry them up and walk up the stairs. Be careful!
A pamphlet with a map of the aquarium is available here along with other event information and feeding times for the fishes.
There is also a place to stamp your pamphlet as a cute memory that will also help guide you.
As I briefly mentioned earlier, the aquarium looks like a small part of COEX but the interior is very well made and feels spacious.
The pamphlet is useful to mark the location of washrooms and resting places.
This is the rainbow lounge.
The names of the fishes are written in multiple languages.
There are directions on the ground so you don't get lost.
If you're having fun and get a little lost, you can take a look at the arrows on the ground to help guide your steps.
The Garden of Korea was very impressive.
This is what the entrance to Garden of Korea looks like. Fishes were swimming around in an old traditional hanok concept area.
Take a photo here! Everything feels very traditional Korean.
There are vending machines that are available here.
It's a popular area not only for foreigners but also for Koreans as well.
Another famous thing about this aquarium is the small fishes that are placed all around the decorations for you to spot called Fish Wonderland.
There are many decorations here filled with cute little fishes that are amusing for both adults and children to look at.
There is also a photo on the wall that suggests you take a photo like this.
There were these signs everywhere on the walls so why don't you try to recreate the image above? It's highly recommended by the aquarium.
The colorful fishes were very beautiful to look at and looked great in photos too.
I was feeling grateful for the little benches around the hall where you can take a quick rest.
Before arriving at the mysterious Amazonia World, there was a corner where you can make a wish called Wish Place.
The wish cards were being sold at 3,000 won and were made of environmentally friendly natural scrubbing brushes. It was a great way to make your experience even more memorable and hang up your wishes.
There are so many different kinds of fish to look at.
The decorations here were fascinating to look at. We spent a lot of time here before moving on to Amazonia World.
Amazonia World is dimly lit with lots of cool fishes.
One really big fish caught my eye and I spent a bit too long staring at it because it's rare to see.
Even if you do end up getting lost and separated from your friends, you can also refer to the arrows on the floor to help guide your steps.
We followed the arrows to Marine Touch Research Institute.
We were able to see a laboratory that observes, researches, and protects the ecology of fishes.
There is also a turtle here that Yesung from Super Junior gave the aquarium for them to help raise.
After walking around Amazonia World, we wanted to make a quick stop at the restroom.
The Coral Museum area was what I was personally looking forward to the most.
Here, colorful fishes swim around in a tank with corals. The tank is decorated to look like a picture frame.
Here is the Coral Museum!
There is a machine here where you can make photo cards with your friends!
There is a small cafe here where you can take a break.
Since it's a spot where many small children come to visit, they also had lots of drinks that are convenient to carry around which I liked.
We got back on our feet and went over to Deep Blue Square.
It's not too big, but it's a relatively large space in this aquarium.
We followed the path to the Undersea Tunnel.
Although it was beautiful and a staple photo spot when going to an aquarium, we couldn't get a photo because there were too many people in the way.
After looking around, the next thing we knew, the tunnel was coming to an end.
We walked over to Jellyfish Garden where we could look at beautiful lights that change color and take more pictures.
The last spot was Penguins Playground.
There were many penguins here that were happily playing around.
We even saw cute little axolotls in a tank!
After seeing everything, we took the escalator to exit.
Again, please be careful when carrying the stroller!
Once we made our exit, we had to walk through the gift shop.
As soon as you arrive, you'll see many cute marine life toys and accessories so make sure to look around!
You can look around the gift shop even if you don't visit the aquarium.
How To Get There
There are two ways to get there. By Line 9 Bongeunsa Station or Line 2 Samseong Station.
If you're going from Samseong Station, enter COEX through exits 5 or 6. Follow the sign on the wall.
When heading from Bongeunsa Station, walk out of exit 7 and walk through the entrance.
The blue trail will lead you to Byeolmadang Library, you want to walk in the opposite direction where there are no blue trails.
Go to the right side from the entrance and you'll see the aquarium on your left.
That concludes our visit to COEX Aquarium! Make fun memories at the mall in Seoul.
