He debuted as an actor in 2014 with a small role in K-drama My Brilliant Life. Since then he has starred in K-dramas such as Gangnam Beauty, Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung, and most recently True Beauty.

In the early days of casting, fans were adamant for Cha Eun-woo to play the role of Lee Suho because of the striking similarity regarding looks.

Ultimately, Cha Eun-woo was cast, alongside Moon Ga-young and Hwang In-yeop for tvN K-drama, True Beauty.

True Beauty was well-received by many fans. It has high viewer ratings and sparked discussion all over the world. Fans loved the synergy between the three actors.

For those who have not seen True Beauty, it is a coming-of-age story. It mostly centers around a girl Lim Ju-kyung (Moon Ga-young) who was bullied for her looks so she then turns to makeup to make herself into a goddess.

Despite now being beautiful, Ju-kyung still remains insecure that people will see her true face. The plot thickens when she meets Lee Suho (Cha Eun-woo) who has a series of problems of his own including estrangement from his best friend Han Seo-jun (Hwang In-yeop).

Throughout the series, the trio learns to confide in one another and help each other heal and grow.

Initially, Cha Eun-woo had many reservations about taking on the role of Suho. When he heard that he had many similarities to the original webtoon character, Cha Eun-woo was not sure if that was a good or bad thing.

Luckily after discussing his concerns with the production team, his worries were resolved.

Many people know that outside being an idol and actor, Cha Eun-woo is active in variety shows. When asked which of the three he likes best, he wisely responded with "being a singer is fun, being in a variety show is a great experience, but all three are great."

When performing as an idol Cha Eun-woo remains careful so he doesn't overshadow the other members. He values his fellow Astro members and hopes they also receive love and attention from fans.

Cha Eun-woo has different hopes for different facets of his career. When he is performing as an idol, he hopes fans recognize the charms of the group. When acting, Cha Eun-woo hopes fans understand the full character he portrays.

Also, Cha Eun-woo is critical of himself. He recognizes his deficiencies in acting skills and hopes to improve. He takes negative experiences and learns from them.

Many fans may know the slang "choe-choe-cha-cha" (최최차차), which is short for 최애는 최애고 차은우는 차은우다. 최애 means love, so even if someone has a partner they love, they recognize all of Cha Eun-woo's merits.

Cha Eun-woo is flattered by this phrase and hopes to live up to it. But he most values that he becomes someone people can trust.
