Gangneung is located in the center of Gangwon-do and the famous Taebaek Mountains.

Its coastal and mountainous areas allow visitors to enjoy a variety of natural scenery as well as rich historical resources.

On January 1 of each year, the sunrise festival is held at Gyeongpodae and Jeongdongjin, and in May of every year, the Gangneung Dano Festival, a world intangible cultural heritage, is held.
