About Seoul

Seoul is the perfect mix of old and new where you'll see skyscrapers standing tall behind traditional places. You'll find anything you're looking for in Seoul.

The Location Of Seoul

The area of Seoul, located in the center of the Korean Peninsula, is 605.2km², which is 0.6% of Korea's area. The city contains 25 autonomous districts.

Seoul is located about 50km east from Incheon International Airport. It takes about an hour to get to Seoul Station from the airport via AREX (Airport Railroad Express) and buses.

Hangang (Han River), a symbol of Seoul, flows horizontally across Seoul, dividing the city into two zones: North and south of the river.

Hangang is also Korea's major river with a total length of over 494km.

Hangang parks, located throughout the city, are perfect places for Seoulites to relax amidst the bustles.

The Population Of Seoul

As of 2020, the population of Seoul was 9,953,009, taking up about 18% of the nation's population and being the most populous city.

The population of Seoul has increased tremendously from 1.6 million in 1950 to 10.42 million in 2008.

Right after the liberation of Korea in 1945, the tallest building in Seoul was an 8-storey hotel, but now, high-rise buildings with more than 30 stories form an urban forest.

The Hangang Bridge was the only bridge that connected across the river, but now there are 25 bridges. We can see that Seoul has changed dramatically with the development of the nation.
