Youn Stay is a new reality show that presents hanok (traditional Korean building) accommodations where guests can fully experience the Korean architecture and lifestyle.
Because the crew wasn't able to travel abroad in the past year or so due to the pandemic, they decided to open up Youn Stay followed by two successful runs of Youn's Kitchen.
Youn Stay is operated by the original members Youn Yuh-jung, Lee Seo-jin as well as members who have also starred in Summer Vacation: Jung Yoo-mi, Choi Woo-sik and Park Seo-joon.
The hospitality service will be provided to foreigners who have resided in Korea for less than a year for work or studies.
Hanok stay, the act of spending a night or more at a hanok accommodation, has become a travel phenomenon among Korean locals too as they started gaining more appreciation for the building's architecture and charms.
Youn Stay started their hanok stay journey by finding stunning traditional buildings in Gurye, Jeollanam-do.
Guests from different countries get to enjoy the atmosphere and interact with the staff members. What an authentic way to enjoy nature in Korea!
The producer Kim Se-hee stated that he wanted to make a show that presents charming hanoks that blend with nature as the backdrop.
He also mentioned that he invested a lot of time shooting the buidlings from different angles and dimensions, while making sure the filming was in compliance with the epidemic regulations.
Inside Youn Stay's complex, there are 8 hanok buildings, thousands of square meters of land and bamboo forests.
The employees, who are actors in real life, show amazing team work of dividing departments and labours.
Lee Seo-jin gets promoted from Restaurant Manager at Youn's Kitchen to Vice President on Youn Stay. He greets guests with amazing customer service and eloquence while systemizing the operation and management perfectly.
Youn Yuh-jung, a Veteran actor who has recently won 11 best supporting actress awards given by US film critics including the San Diego Film Critics Society, Music City Film Critics Association, and the Discussing Film Critic Awards for movie Minari, is the President of Youn Stay.
Park Seo-joon, who was an intern at Youn's Kitchen three years ago, is now a sous-chef who helps out the head cook Jung Yoo-mi.
Finally, intern Choi Woo-sik is responsible for picking up guests, cleaning rooms, catering and preparing food materials. He certainly is an essential addition to the team!
In the first episode of Youn Stay that aired on Friday, January 8, the viewer ratings hit 9.8% on average and the highest of 12.6% in the metropolitan area (Nielson Korea - based on paid platforms). So we can see that the show is off to a good start.
Tune in every Friday (or Saturday if you are on LINE TV) to see more stories at Youn Stay unfold!
