SCOFF Bakehouse | Buamdong
Amazing Scones & Brownies People Will Line Up Outside For!
Located on the hills of Buamdong, just 2 minutes from Seokpajeong Seoul Museum, sits a British-inspired bakery serving up mouthwatering pastries ranging from scones and brownies to cakes. Although it's not located in the most bustling part of Seoul, SCOFF Bakehouse is always vibrant with patrons who stop by for a bite of their deliciousness.
Even if you visit after the sun has set, you'll still easily spot the bakehouse from its bright neon pink sign that says "eat more gluten." Looking down the mountainous hills from the entrance of the bakery is one of the best ways to take in the alluring vibe of Buamdong.
You won't be short of options here! A good starter is the famous Lemon Drizzle Cake (₩4,500) that has a delicate lemon aroma and chunky sugar bites.
Another super famous option among locals is the Brownie (₩4,500 per piece) which gained its popularity from the food show Wednesday Food Talk.
Look at all the freshly baked goods! Such a mouthwatering sight.
In another corner of the bakery, you'll find their own merch for sale. If you're especially fond of their pastries and consider yourself a fan, or you're simply looking to take a souvenir home, take a look around!
The bakery is big enough to seat around 20 people. The overall atmosphere is comfortable with vibrant contemporary art pieces that make the space feel lively.
As you can probably tell from the photos, I visited on two different occasions; once in the evening and once in the daytime.
Visiting in the daytime was good that I could look out the window and enjoy the sunny sight of cars passing by with the green backdrop.
Visiting in the evening was also nice that I could experience a quieter vibe of Buamdong while relaxing over sweets and a good chat.
What I had on my afternoon visit (from left to right) : Victoria Sponge Cake (₩5,000), Butter Scone (₩3,300) and Iced Americano (₩4,800).
Try the butter scone! It's soft and fluffy on the inside and slightly crispy on the outside while the butter flavour just hits your palate so pleasantly.
What I had on my evening visit (from left to right) : Choco Chunk Giant Cookie (₩4,000), Orange Vanilla Cake (₩4,500) and Brownie (₩4,500)
Their brownie is the most well known among locals and a good starter. It's seriously amazing!
When the weather felt a bit nippy, I had Apple Cinnamon Tea (₩4,500) with the pastries. It's very aromatic and comforting. Not sure if I'd consider trying out the iced version though.
To conclude, my visits to Buamdong have always been pleasant. The neighbourhood, being on the calmer side of the city, offers lots of things to do that are relaxing and healing. If you're craving sweets in between your visit there, be sure to make a stop at SCOFF Bakehouse.
