Our Visit
When you visit Jeju Island, you can't leave without trying Jeju's famous specialty, black pork, or 흑돼지! We made a visit to one of Jeju's most famous restaurants for black pork, Sukseongdo. It is so famous that even the members of BTS and EXO come here to eat!
Sukseongdo has 4 branches on Jeju Island; Aewol, Nohyeong, Hamdeok, and Jungmun.
Sukseongdo is always super crowded because it's so popular among both Koreans and foreigners, so there is usually always a wait. However, Sukseongdo is so famous that people are willing to wait up to 2-3 hours just to try the food. They have a system set up so that you can enter your phone number to secure your place in line and get a notification when it's your turn. If you do not have a Korean number, you can let the staff know and they will help you out!
At the Nohyeong Main Branch, the wait time can be as long as 1.5 hours! No one wants to wait that long, but Sukseongdo is really that good! Lucky for you, you can use the Creatrip Pass to skip the line! The reason why Sukseongdo's pork is so delicious is because they put tons of extra care in the preparation stage by dry-aging the meat in high-quality conditions. When you enter the store, you'll see cuts of pork being aged inside a large refrigerator! When the meat is carefully temperature-controlled, it becomes extra tender and flavorful.
The restaurant is bright and spacious, and each table has enough space, so you can enjoy your meal comfortably without feeling cramped.
Aged Bone-in Rib-eye 960 (38,000 KRW/350g)
Aged Pork Neck 720 (37,000 KRW/360g)
The two most popular menu items are the Aged Bone-in Rib-eye 960 and The Aged Pork Neck 720. The number '960' refers to pork that has been aged for about 40 days, and '720' refers to pork that has been aged for about 30 days.
After placing your order, the table will be set and the staff at the restaurant will help you cook the meat.
Sukseongdo is definitely not considered a place to have a cheap meal, but the quality and flavor of the food here is worth every penny! The pork has the perfect amount of meat and fat and was incredibly tender.
Every bite is tender and juicy, and you can enhance the flavors even more by having it with the provided side dishes and sauces.
Korean BBQ is incomplete without Kimchi Stew (김치찌개)! Sukseongdo's Kimchi Stew is filled with meat and has an addictive deep kimchi broth. It's the perfect combination to cut some of the greasiness of the meat!
Pollock Salted Roe Rice (갈치 속젓 볶음밥) - 8,000 KRW
The total amount of the items we ordered this time exceeded 50,000 KRW, so we decided to take advantage of the Creatrip Pass!
