Our Visit

Tucked away just off the bustling streets of Myeongdong, you'll find Furoa, a trendy cafe boasting a modern mid-century interior that feels more at home in hip neighborhoods like Seongsu or Hongdae. Not only does Furoa serve excellent coffee, but it also offers brunch options for those times you want a break from Korean cuisine.

At night, the cafe transforms. The lights dim, candles are lit, and the atmosphere shifts to a romantic setting. The cocktail menu features classic choices, enhanced by unique cocktails inspired by Korean ingredients. Additionally, Furoa occasionally hosts DJ nights, adding to the lively ambiance.

Furoa is a cultural space that combines space, music, fashion, and a café concept, offering a unique atmosphere with specific themes. It operates as a café during the day and transforms into a bar at night, which is one of its distinct features. Moreover, the owner of Furoa is the same as the owner of the popular Euljiro café called 'Bunkasha,' which attracts both domestic and international visitors, adding to the trustworthiness of the café. From the entrance, you can feel a blend of Western and Eastern influences, creating an interesting ambiance.

We also visited Furoa during the day to try out their brunch items. At the entrance of the store, there is a displayed menu board with options available in English and Japanese, so even if you don't speak Korean, you can comfortably choose your menu without any hesitation.

All the dishes I've been waiting for have arrived. I ordered the signature dishes of Furoa, and just by looking at them, they are incredibly appetizing.

Furoa is known for attracting many visitors who come for brunch or lunch, so they intentionally keep the seasoning mild to cater to a wider range of tastes. That's why when you order your food, they provide salt and pepper separately. You can sprinkle them according to your preference and enjoy your meal!

I first tried the hummus, and the dip made from chickpeas delicately complements the softness of the baguette, offering a mild yet rich and nutty flavor that is quite appealing.

If you're looking for a little more excitement, you can try adding olives and pickled carrots as accompaniments. It adds another layer of charm to the dish! Please be careful when eating the olives as they may contain pits.

Next, I tried the Bulgogi Pilaf, and when I added the sliced fried egg on top, the combination of the savory and slightly sweet Bulgogi flavors with the softness of the egg made it even more delicious. Indeed, if you feel like adding more variety, I recommend trying it with the pickled cucumber slices. The refreshing and slightly tangy taste of the pickled cucumber complements the robust flavors of the Bulgogi Pilaf quite nicely!

Now it's time to try the Soup of the Day. Today's soup is Chicken Chickpea Soup. It contains carrots, potatoes, onions, tomatoes, and various other vegetables. The tomatoes add richness to the flavor of the soup. The soup is delicious on its own, but it becomes even more enjoyable when you spread it on the crispy baguette. The soup seeps into the bread, making it soft and flavorful. The Soup of the Day was the Editor's Pick for today!

Lastly, I had the Basil Butter Roquefort Sandwich. The combination of Roquefort cheese, hamong, and basil butter was not only delicious but also harmonious and healthy. However, as time passes, the baguette can become quite hard, so I recommend enjoying it with the soup! We recommend that you visit Furoa twice, once during the day and once at night, to enjoy both sides of it's charm.
