You can choose the design of the wooden ring you want during your visit (walnut, oak, maple, birch).

Different pieces of the same type of wood can vary in grain, color, texture, etc.

A ring gauge is available on-site to measure your ring size.

Please check with the staff throughout the ring-making process as the ring size may decrease.

Please be careful not to hurt your hands with rough wood chips and sandpaper.

Please be sure not to let the finished wooden ring get wet for long periods of time.

We took a visit to Wetwood Studio, which is just a 3-minute walk from Seokchon Station. Wood Studio offers a one-day class for making wooden rings and is a workshop that was created by renovating a jewelry shop in Seoul from the 1980s.

Dimly lit room with traditional Korean calligraphy and floral painted scrolls hanging on the wall, enhancing a retro feel with a vintage setup.

When you enter, the yellow lighting shines softly on the murals, creating a retro atmosphere.

The inside of the workshop is divided into three main areas: the workstation, photo zone, and consultation area.

The workstation is divided into two areas; the initial work is done standing up and the refining work is done sitting down.

This is a photo zone where you can take Insta-worthy photos of your ring with the good lighting once your finished. Also, the staff will take pictures from time to time with the camera while you're working on your ring. The photos will be sent via email later with both original and edited photos!

The consultation area really felt like we suddenly traveled back to the 1980s. You can also take photos here afterwards!

First, you will be provided with a welcome tea. You can choose between a carbonated drink or tea, and the staff will bring it to you. Then, you'll begin counseling!

Next, choose a ring design. You can to use wood from walnut trees, oak trees, maple trees, and dogwood trees. We preferred a more slender and delicate look and chose the maple tree. You can see what it looks like in the photos below!

Person holding a sample block of layered wood, a material option for wooden ring crafting, at Wetwood Studio.

The design we chose is a material that was recycled from a skateboard made with maple trees, making it a great fashion statement with its color scheme. You can choose the color from the cross section that comes out when cutting the skateboard, but please note that the available colors may vary depending on the wood inventory! When choosing the shape of the wooden ring, there are two options: the flat-shaped wooden ring or the round-shaped wooden ring.

This is a really fun and unique part of the process! You get to experience a payment process that was used back in the 80's here in Seoul! You'll write the name of the participant and the class type on the payment form. They even provide a fountain pen for you to use!

Next, sand down the rough parts using sand paper. The employee will do this part for you, as it may cause injury if done incorrectly since your hands may come into contact with sharp objects. However, you'll be able to use the sand paper machine later!

Then, use a compass to draw a circle that is about 2.5mm larger than the hole. This is the thickness of the actual ring that you will be wearing.

Don't be alarmed if your drawing is crooked or bent, the staff will touch it up for you!

The next step is to remove the unnecessary parts using a bandsaw. As cutting with a saw can be dangerous, it's important to take your time and cut carefully.

Then you can bring the ring back towards the sand paper device and create a more ring-shaped design by making it more circular.

You will only need to sand the edges and the staff will assist in creating the intricate circular shape!

The second step is to polish the inside of the ring to make it a little smoother. Once you've done this, your job is complete and the staff will refine the design further!
