Petite France is a French village that opened in 2008 and is a popular tourist destination near Seoul. Petite France transports you to France but is located near Lake Cheongpyeong and Nami Island! Our Review
Petite France is a unique French cultural village of Korea located in the suburbs, next to Cheongpyeong Lake, This place is designed under the theme of "flowers stars and the little price", providing tourists with a great cultural experience and sightseeing space. The architecture of the buildings in Petite France also has strong French influences.
As it is located in a convenient location, this place is one of the most chosen places for trips near Seoul. In particular, this place also appeared in many famous movies and shows such as My Love from the star, Secret Garden, and Running Man.
We came to Petite France on a weekday and it still was quite busy. When you come here, you will be able to feel the French touch of this village through the architecture and the style of the village.
You can get tickets from the ticket booth near parking lot 1. After walking towards parking lot 1, you will see a staircase. You can go all the way up the stairs and you will see the ticket office. There are 2 areas: Petite France French Village as well as Pinocchio & Da Vinci Italian Village.
Remember to pick up a tourist guide map at the ticket booth as well so that you can make sure that you know where you are! From the ticket gate you will see 2 aisles. The left entrance leads to Petite France and the right leads to Pinocchio & Da Vinci Italian Village. If you have enough time, you can also visit the Italian Village after! It has just opened in 2021 and is very beautiful!
Inside Petite France, you will see a large amount of beautiful French buildings. These buildings consist of galleries, and you can learn about a vast variety of collections of French culture here!
1. The Front of Amphitheater Outdoor Stage
Location: In front of number 11 on the map
Amphitheater is an outdoor stage where performances take place. It is a special area where you can also see the overlapping buildings and is known as the heart of Petite France. Come here to take pictures and get some beautiful photos for your social media!
If you are a fan of Korean movies, you will probably also recognize this area as it is a popular filming location for many Korean dramas and films! The scenery is romantic and we can see why it is so popular for filming! There are even pictures of Do Min Joon and Cheon Song Yi included here so you can take funny pictures!
Running Man
Additionally, the Korean variety show Running Man was also filmed here. If you are a fan of the show, you may recognize some of the village from the show as well!
2. Antiques Flea Market Antika
Location: Number 32 on the map
This is a gallery inspired by the flea markets in France. When you come here, you will be ale to see a lot of gold, ceramic, and copper items!
The impressive works of art here will amaze you. We saw many students coming here as well that seemed to be on a school trip coming to this village to learn more about French culture.
3. Maison de Marie
Location: Number 21 on the map
You can also look at the antique French furniture as well as check out paintings by famous artists. If you are an art enthusiast, this space and are is bound to make you satisfied.
4. Tradition French House
Location: Number 29 on the map
This is a house depicting a French house with a history of more than 200 years.
Wooden furniture, antique bricks and beautiful decorations provide a great atmosphere for visitors.
5. Beethoven Virus Filming Site
Location: Number 27 on the map
This is the filming location of the 2008 Korean film Beethoven Virus. This area also became widely popular in Korea due to it's appearance in the film. Here you will be able to see many celebrity autographs hanging on the wall as well.
The space is decorated like a vintage cafe with classic sofas. You can buy drinks at the cafe next door and the come here to enjoy the view.
6. Amor Blue
Location: Number 22 on the map
The famous wall in Petite France is visited by many visitors. On the wall there are sayings that show expression in many languages. If you visit Petite France, remember to come here and take a commemorative photo!
7. Observatory
Location: Number 23 on the map
Actually, there is nothing special here, but when you reach the top, you will be able to see the Cheongpyeong Lake as well as the colorful buildings of Petite France. Make sure to take a photo!
8. "Bonjour" Walkway
Location: Number 24 on the map
Petite France is located right next to Cheongpyeong Lake. You can walk the "Bonjour" promenade on the slopes of Mount Homyeong to immerse yourself in nature and see the green color of Cheongpyeong Lake.
9. Fountain Square
Location: Number 13 on the Map
There is a mini fountain and a few stalls that sell food and souvenirs. The golden sun shining down will make you feel as though you are walking in a small village in France.
Adjacent is a small staircase. You can stand here and take pictures!
10. Saint Exupéry Memorial Hall
Location: Number 10 on the map
This is a memorial room established with the permission of the organization Saint Exupéry in Korea.
Saint-Exupéry (1900-1944) was a poet and was considered to be a unique author in the history of world literature. He was originally a pilot and a solider before becoming a poet. His most famous piece is "The Little Prince" and it is so famous that is has become a classic in modern literature. In the memorial room there are records of his life and achievements.
Here you will be able to see both airplane models and pilot outfits.
11. Exhibition of Antique Porcelain
Location: Number 34 on the map
This is a place where you can see displays of antique ceramics. You will see many porcelain works that are up to several decades old. All works are delicately crafted and of high quality.
It feels as though you are observing a valuable collection!
Things to Do at Petite France
Keep in mind that the show schedule is posted everywhere in Petite France. The following information is for the show schedule for June and the schedules are always subject to change. Please keep this in mind and check the official website before visiting. The shows at Petite France are all free.
1. Maison d'Orgel
Location: Number 4 on the map
Show: Music Box Performance
Show Times: 11:00, 13:00, 14:00, 15:00, 16:00, 16:40
Showtime Duration: 15 minutes
Tickets: Free
This is where you will get to see a music boxes show that ranges from primitive music boxes to modern music.
The artists will both perform and explain (in Korean) so you can understand more about the different types of sounds and the story behind each music box. If you are too tired after a long day of sightseeing, you can stop here to rest, and listen to music! Mamamoo also visited here on that group's show.
2. Amphitheater

Note: Due to objective reasons, the location of the European Doll House may change (no. 33 on the map)
Here you will be able to admire various performances such as mime circus, and hot air balloons depending on the day.
3. Théâtre de L'étoile
Location: Number 2 on the map
This is the theater at the entrance to Petite France on the right. There is a European fairy puppet show. However, due to the pandemic, the show here are paused.
4. Create Pictures
Location: to the right of number 32 on the map
Located on the right hand side of Antiques Flea Market "Antika" (number 32 on the map), this is a place where you can experience making pictures for free. Just select the photo you like, and within 30 seconds you will be able to turn it into a painting thanks to the technology here.
However, if you want to print photos and frame them, there will be a fee. A4 size photos and the frame costs 60,000 KRW. Prices will vary by size.
5. Petite Slow Mail Box
Location: to the right of number 32 on the map
Postcard for domestic delivery (Korea): 1,000 KRW
Postcards sent internationally (outside Korea): 1,500 KRW
This is a special mailbox. You can send postcards from Petite France to your friends and loved ones. Postcards will be sent out at the end of December every year. For the year 2022, your postcard will be send out on December 30.
You can buy postcards at the main gate, back gate, and souvenir shops in Petite France.
6. French Medieval Dressing Experience
Location: Number 6 on the map
This service will be available from June 1, 2022.
When we arrived, the renting services were not available. Therefore, we were not able to try it out, but if you do have the chance, it seems like it will be a fun experience and we highly suggest it!
7. Collect stamps to receive gifts
At the entrance ticket counter, you can stamp collection copies (500 KRW) are sold. Seals are places at the gates of buildings inside Petite France. If you collect more than 5 stamps, you will get a very pretty postcard from Petite France.

Shopping at Petite France
Gift Shop
Location: Number 14 on the map
At Petite France there are not many shops for you to shop at. However there is a little shopping outlet located at the Fountain Square.
This place sells many souvenir items such as postcards, wooden dolls, keychains in the shape of the Little Prince, notebooks, pens. If you want to find some souvenirs, be sure to stop by here!
What to Eat at Petite France
Currently, Petite France only sells drinks, ice cream, marshmallows and snacks. The options are quite limited.
1. Store
Location: Number 15 on the map
There are stalls here that sell coffee, tea, and latte. Prices sounds around 4,000 KRW.
There is also a LePetit France stall that sells very cute marshmallows. The price is around 4,500 KRW per 100 grams.
2. BAOBAB
Location: European Doll House (number 33 on the map)
Drinks from 4,500 KRW, bingsu from 10,000 KRW
3. Café Fennec
Location: Number 26 on the map
This is the largest cafe space in Petite France, selling a variety of drinks such as tea, coffee, smoothies and the prices start from around 4,000 KRW. There are also bingsu and waffles available here. Waffle prices start from 3,000 KRW.
You can sit at the outdoor seating area right in front of the shop or go opposite area and enjoy the drinks and beautiful scenery.
Places to Eat Outside Petite France
If you want to have more options, you can check out the restaurants just outside the back gate of Petite France. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many stores are temporarily closed.

This cafe is located next to the CU convenience store, and is opposite of the Petite France back gate. They sell a variety of teas and coffees as well as their signature menu item called Pidong (Pizza + Hot Dog). Their prices start from around 3,000 KRW.
3. 33 Tteokbokki (33떡볶이 청평설악점)

There are tteokbokki, kimpbap, and sundae are for sale here starting from around 5,000 KRW.

There is pizza and pasta here, and is a good place to eat after spending the day exploring outdoors.. The restaurant is quite large and airy with both indoor and outdoor space!
Pizza here costs around 22,000 KRW and pasta costs around 16,000 KRW to 18,000 KRW. We ordered Gorgonzola PIzza and Carobonara Pasta. The ingredients are all very fresh and the quantity is quite generous.
Petite France Hotels
Petite France also offers hotel services for those who want to stay overnight here. Rooms are sized for 2 to 10 people, suitable for small groups as well as families. The rooms are decorated in the French style, and minimalistic but also full of amenities. Room rates will vary depending on the time and the number of people.

How to Get to Petite France
You can go to Gapyeong station, Cheongpyeong Station, Cheongpyeong Bus Station and then take a local bus to Petite France but because local buses are often less frequent, you can try taking Gapyeong City Tour Bus.
Gapyeong City Tour Bus
The bus passes through the key attractions of Gapyeong. Buy a one-time ticket that can be used unlimitedly within 1 day. Creatrip recommends that you buy this bus ticket to be able to combine visiting many places in the day such as Nami Island, Petite France, The Garden of Morning Calm without much additional travel costs.
This bus has 2 routes, Course A and Course B. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Course B is currently suspended, but Course A operates 2 times a day.
