Our Visit
During our trip to Dongdaemun, we decided to stay at the Hotel Skypark Kingstown Dongdaemun after considering various factors such as facilities, room prices, and location. We booked a Residence Twin room for about 83,000 KRW excluding the breakfast.
Hotel Skypark is a hotel chain with many branches in Korea such as Myeongdong, Jeju, Daejeon... and of course Dongdaemun! The Hotel Skypark Kingstown Dongdaemun is located on the 14th floor of the Hyundai City Outlets building, near Exit 13 of Dongdaemun History and Culture Park Station. The hotel is also by fashion wholesale centers and good restaurants. It is a great place to stay if you're planning to get some shopping done in Dongdaemun.
This hotel is a 4-star hotel with 406 rooms and has a variety of rooms that include twin beds, single beds, a kitchen, a balcony, family rooms, and much more, suitable for customers of all kinds.
After we arrived at the Skypark Kingstown Hotel, we went to the 14th floor to check in. The lobby was much bigger than we'd expected. To check in, you will need to fill out a form with basic information such as your name, phone number, nationality, and more. The hotelier will guide you, so don't worry.
The hotelier will give you a room key along with a lotion set and toothbrush.
When you ride the elevator, you need to place your card on the reader first, and then press your floor number.
The hallways are wide and bright. During the pandemic, the hotel made extra efforts regarding hygiene.
As mentioned above, we stayed in the Residence Twin. As soon as you enter the room, you will see a large closet for your clothes.
Shower gowns, slippers, and cloth hangers are equipped in the closet.
On your right is the bathroom. The toilet is in a separate room so it's clean and odorless. There is also a bathtub for those who want to take a bath after a long day of shopping and walking around.
There are plenty of towels, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and dryers for you to use. We did not have any inconveniences using the amenities during our stay.
And this is our room! Because it is a residence room, there is a living room as well as a kitchen. The TV and Wifi are all set to use.
The living room and bedroom are separated by a wall. There's also a dining table where you can eat your meals or just sit and talk.
There is both a desk and vanity in the living room area. We were happy to see this because it is rare for a hotel room in Korea to have more than one desk. We found plenty of power sockets as well!
Hotel Skypark Kingstown Dongdaemun has complimentary tea and coffee for you to enjoy. The coffee was G7 which is a popular Vietnamese instant coffee.
There also is a safe where you can store valuables when you head out.
Here's a view from a different angle of the room. The kitchen has sinks, and microwaves, but unfortunately no bowls, plates, or pots! If you need those items, go to the shared kitchen on the same floor and get them. There are two small bottles of water already in the fridge and if you need more, go fill your bottles up in the shared kitchen.
This is the bedroom with two single beds. The beds are soft but it was a bit small. The blankets are neatly organized, clean, and odorless.
I was a bit uncomfortable because the light control panel and power socket were not between the beds, but there was one on the other side, so it was fine. Though it was difficult to share with my friend.
There is a TV in the bedroom. There aren't many channels on it but they have Mnet, which is my favorite.
This is the view of DDP from the room. It's a bit blocked by the buildings next door, but it's still pretty nice.
On the same floor, you'll find a shared kitchen. There is a water purifier, microwave, cooking necessities, and more. It is for anyone to use, so if you need to use it, don't hesitate. There is a place where you can put your food waste as well.
There are other hotel facilities as well such as this coin-operated laundry room. You can do your laundry at a good price. They have washing machines, dryers, steam tables, and coin exchange machine. The price will vary depending on the cycle. Quickwashing (20 minutes) is 1,500 KRW, standard washing (39 minutes) is 3,000 KRW, and thorough washing (59 minutes) is 4,000 KRW.
On the 14th floor, you will find a CU convenience store. This is great because if you need a drink or a light snack, you don't have to go out to get it. It's right here!
You can also find the Business Desk with computers and printers. It's not much, but it's better than nothing.
If you want a relaxing massage, you can get one at N'Olive Esthetic which opens from 10:30 to 21:00 (closed on Sundays).
The seminar room and conference room area are also on the 14th floor. There are a total of 3 seminar rooms and 2 conference rooms.
You can also find the gym and restaurants in this area.
The highlight of all the facilities is the outdoor courtyard. Here you can ride race cars! The price is 8,000 KRW per ride and is available from 11:00 to 20:00.
When the sun sets, the lights are lit to turn the courtyard into a romantic garden. Come take pictures! There is also a camping experience available where you can get a grill set and grill sausages, marshmallows, and skewers for 9,900 KRW!
Overall, the facilities and service at Hotel Skypark Kingstown Dongdaemun were good compared to the price. It's a great place to stay if you plan on staying in the Dongdaemun area to shop!
