The first cafe we want to introduce is called Cafe Monstercat (요괴냥수비대), which is a popular cafe among locals in Korea.
The cafe is located within a 9-minute walking distance from Hongdae Station exit 9.
The owner of the cafe is Kwak Tori (곽토리), a popular creator on YouTube. She is well known for her love of cute styles and the color purple which directly reflects through this cafe she created!
For those who love cute things and the color purple, you'll immediately be in paradise as soon as you walk through the cafe doors. The cafe is full of cute purple accessories and cat-shaped items, the owner is a major cat-lover as well.
The cafe menu is accessible at the counter and it has a description of all the ingredients of each drink. Unfortunately, this cafe does not have any desserts.
While waiting for our drinks, we looked around at the cute items that were on sale at the cafe.
For people who like stickers and cats, you'll definitely end up splurging here! Each item is so cute and affordable.
As a person who loves purple, I really enjoyed looking around this cafe. All the decor perfectly blends in with their theme.
The cafe isn't too big so there are not many seats available and can only accommodate a small number of people. The cafe is only open 4 days a week so the place is usually crowded.
Everything in this cafe is so adorable and it's all pastel-themed. As for the seating areas, they're divided into different styles.
There are western-style tables that are more elegant and Korean-style tables that are more traditional.
Lavender Yogurt Smoothie
7,200 won
Jasmine Grapefruit Soda
6,500 won
We received our drinks not long after. Unlike the other cafes, they don't give you a buzzer when your order is ready, but they call out your order number so we had to listen carefully.
We ordered their recommended menu, lavender yogurt smoothie, and jasmine grapefruit soda.
The drinks are so adorable and must be posted on social media! It tasted so good too!
The lavender yogurt smoothie smelt just like lavender and it was so yummy!
There are seats outside as well, for those who want to sit and relax outdoors and feel the breeze.
There is a couch and a shell-shaped chair area. There is also a mirror that a lot of girls enjoy taking photos of to post on their social media. So don't miss this area when you come here!
There is also a photo zone right here. You can take a photo with their main sign which is 5 colorful cats that represent this cafe.
This is another must-visit corner you can't miss!
Last but not least, is this colorful cat logo in front of the store you have to take a photo of! The galaxy wall also made it so magical!
If you search this cafe on Instagram, you'll see so many photos that were taken here.
At night, the sign will light up and turn purple so you will find yourself in a whole new atmosphere in the dark.
For people who want to buy stationery, they can also visit the shop right next to the cafe called "UNIPOPCORN". It's also run by the same owner of the cafe.

When it comes to purple cafes in Seoul, this one can't be missed!
As the name Be Purple suggests, this is the first cafe that pops up when you search purple cafes on Korea's biggest search engine NAVER.
This cafe thankfully has a wide range of desserts and drinks to choose from! More importantly, it's very large and has a lot of seats. You can definitely feel free to visit with a large group of friends or family.
Their signature menu is the Cream Cafe Mocha which is a purple drink, but sadly it was all sold out.
If you order it to-go, you can get a 500 won discount for a caffeinated beverage.
This cafe is full of cute corners that are nicely decorated. I couldn't help but take photos as inspiration for how to decorate my own room.
Sticking photocards and postcards with cute stickers on the wall is a popular decor trend these days. It makes your room look so colorful and artistic.
As the name suggests, everything in this cafe is purple! The staff will also serve your drinks in a purple cart.
I highly recommend this place for people who want to come with a larger group of people.
The cafe is very wide and you have so much freedom in choosing where you would like to sit.
This spot is a great photo zone at the cafe. There are chairs that are set up for you to sit and pose for pictures.
It has a pink and purple background and I dressed perfectly for the occasion, don't you think?
The photos came out so cute as well all thanks to the lovely flowers on the table and the fun background.
Some of you may be wondering what the photos are! They are polaroid photos taken by the owner, including people, snacks, and different areas of the cafe.
There are a lot of photos of different people but we weren't sure if they were celebrities or not.
If you ever visit this cafe, let us know if you saw anyone that you recognize!
This cafe has a lot of couches, perfect for those who are tired and want to rest in a comfortable space.
Our orders were served pretty quickly! We ordered 3 things. The Strawberry Latte, which is their seasonal drink, Strawberry Croffle, the cafe's recommended menu, and a Latte.
Strawberry Croffle
Croffles are very popular in Korea, so we had to order one.
This croffle was very crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, which was perfect! It was so delicious with the fresh strawberries on top.
The cream was also sweet but not sickening, perfect as a dessert.
Strawberry Latte & Caffe Latte
These are our drinks. The latte had a strong coffee taste with just the right amount of sweetness. It was perfectly paired with the dessert.
The strawberry latte was also very delicious and I could really taste the freshness of the strawberries!
Don't forget to take a photo at this corner before you leave! This is a popular photo zone for its visitors. The green leaves surrounding the neon light sign and their signature purple seats make every picture so aesthetically pleasing!
Like I said before, this cafe will give you so much inspiration for your room decor! All the photos I took are so colorful and beautiful without feeling cluttered.
Anyone who comes with just one other friend and wants a quieter space to themselves can check out this area!
There is a table placed behind some curtains. There is also an area behind a glass door for you to take some artistic photos as well.
If you come with a big group of friends, you can sit here! We sadly didn't take too many photos as there were others that were enjoying their coffee there.
If you are looking for a unique purple-themed cafe in Korea, add this one to your list!
Tape
테이프
Address: 서울 용산구 이태원로 14길 21
Hours: 12:00-22:00
Directions: 7-minute walk from Itaewon Station exit 4
Instagram: @tapeseoul
The last cafe on our list is Tape, located in Itaewon. I'm sure that many people searching for cute cafes in Korea will have seen this cafe online before.
We recommend this cafe to those who like art. They frequently post on Instagram when their different art exhibitions are being held.
Anyone can check out the art exhibition at their cafe for free and there are various artworks you can purchase as well.
When we went, there was a free art magazine collection.
This cafe is not very spacious, but there are a lot of seats! There's even a rooftop area where you can enjoy the view of Itaewon.
Unfortunately, when we went, the rooftop area was closed for maintenance. We couldn't take any photos for you but you can check them out on their Instagram.
The cafe is decorated with hologram designs to make it more exciting and magical! The colors change depending on the light from the outside combined with the lighting inside which is cool to see. It also changes depending on which angles you take your photos in.
Have you seen these cakes going around on social media? The cafe specializes in galaxy-themed cakes that are so cool to see in real life!
There's a wide range of beverages to choose from. They have both coffee and non-caffeinated drinks. They even have alcoholic beverages available during the evening.
Wouldn't it be amazing to have a cup of cold beer on the rooftop while looking out at the view of Itaewon?
Another thing that stands out from this cafe is that there is a purple LED wall that is more prominent during the late afternoon. We definitely recommend going in the afternoon for this reason!
You can take the coolest pictures here. The food on top of the glass table looks so artistic!
Our order finally arrived! We ordered their best menu. Can you guess what it is?
We ordered their recommended menu, Green Tea and Tropical Fruit Tea as well as a couple of desserts.
Keep in mind that the cafe requires one drink per person.
The green tea was very delicious but it was very sweet! So for those who don't like sweet drinks can ask to reduce the sweetness or just order another drink.
The tropical fruit tea was very refreshing and fruity. It was delicious with our dessert!
Hazelnut Chocolate Cake
7,500 won
The hazelnut chocolate cake tasted like Ferrero Rochers. It had a rich chocolate taste and had hazelnuts that added a light crunch.
With the small layers of cheesecake, it was very delicious!
Strawberry Cheesecake
4,500 won
This strawberry cheesecake is a MUST when you visit this cafe! It's very popular, of course, because of its galaxy-like appearance.
When we saw this on Instagram, it looked purple but it's actually blue! I felt a bit let down when I saw that it wasn't purple. But once I had a bite, I was so happy!
The cheesecake is very soft and has a mousse-like texture. Together with the biscuit layer and the strawberries, I fell in love!
Here are the photo zones at this cafe! We chose the right seats because this seat is a popular photo zone that a lot of people love to take photos in.
You can see the purple background and it adds a nice artistic touch to your Instagram feed!
If you plan on coming to this cafe, I also recommend coming during the daytime as well. There is another purple LED wall that's more vibrant when there's sunlight shining in.
That concludes our list of purple-themed cafes in Seoul!
