2021 Spring and Summer Merchandise At Starbucks Korea
Let's take a look at some of the spring and summer merchandise at Starbucks Korea! Plus a quick look at some of their seasonal food and drinks.
Coffee connoisseurs may know that Starbucks originally opened in Seattle on March 31st, 1971. This company sure has come a long way since then.
It is now an international brand name and has gotten extremely popular in Korea. Starbucks Korea has opened storefronts with interiors that appeal to the Korean audience.
They have also developed new menu items and merchandise!
Originally, we went to scope out the spring Starbucks merchandise for you all, but turns out they have already transitioned into summer.
Everything mentioned in this blog is from Starbucks Reserve Famille Park or a local neighborhood Starbucks near Seoul National University of Education Station.
We weren't able to check the price of every single item, but the ones we did check will be listed. Generally, products ranged from ~11,000 won to ~50,000 won.
Spring Items
Spring items were released in early March of 2021 and were definitely dwindling in numbers when we visited.
But we can share the spring items that were left!
If you all follow our social media accounts, you may remember we have posted many cherry blossom photos from around Korea.
Therefore it is safe to conclude that cherry blossoms are a significant part of Korean springs. So, of course, there was merchandise that was cherry blossom-themed.
Cherry Blossom Flower Keychain
Price: 20,000 won
Since there weren't any out of the packaging, we weren't able to get photos of the actual product.
But the box it came in was a lovely shade of pink decorated with cherry blossoms.
Based on the image on the back of the box, this keychain has a gold base with pink and white charms.
One of the charms is in the shape of a cherry blossom flower.
Cherry Blossom Straw Set
Price: 18,000 won
Now more than ever it is crucial to reduce single-use plastics to be more environmentally conscious. Plastic straws that end up in the ocean are extremely detrimental to the well-being of marine life.
But some people prefer to drink with a straw. So one solution is reusable straws.
Starbucks has released a reusable straw set that consists of a case, three straws, and a straw cleaner. On the straws are little cherry blossom decorations that look cute and prevent the straw from slipping into the cup.
They are made of PET (polyethylene terephthalate), which is recyclable plastic, and they are flexible and you can cut them to adjust the length, which you can't do with metal reusable straws.
Cherry Blossom Notepad and Pen Set
Price: 19,000 won
We were so confused to see a notepad set sold at a Starbucks, we've been to a couple of local Starbucks around Seattle and have never one before...
But now that we think about it, we have spent a lot of time studying/working at a cafe so it is not actually absurd for a cafe to sell stationary like this.
This item is a small legal pad inside a pink leather-like folder. Included is a pen in a holder. We think this item will be extremely convenient to take on the go since everything is bound in one place.
Plus something about that pink shade of cherry blossoms is very uplifting.
Cherry Blossom Plate
These plates aren't very big, but they are so cute.
The plate itself is shaped like a cherry blossom petal and there are flowers and floating petal designs on it.
If you enjoy hosting guests, we think it would be lovely to serve cookies or cheese and crackers on this plate.
Spring Tumbler and Cold Cup
So there definitely weren't many tumblers or cold cups part of the spring collection left.
The tumbler is two-toned. The main body is dark pink/purple, while the lid is light pink. It is simple since there are no other designs except for white lettering.
Meanwhile, the cold cup design is similar to the other spring items. It has a light pink straw and lid while the cup is light to dark pink gradient with small cherry blossom flower decorations.
The lid of the cold cup has a little tab which makes it easier to take off and on.
Glass Container Set
All the description said about this item was that it is a glass container set.
They have yellow and green lids which are very fun springtime colors. We think it would be great to fill these with sugar cubes or jam to create an afternoon tea set.
Or you can use them to store miscellaneous small objects like paperclips, rubber bands, bobby pins, etc to help keep your desk organized.
Summer Items
These items were released in early April 2021. They mostly consist of vibrant colors and ocean themes.
Some items were produced in collaboration with Stanley.
Stanley is another brand that originated in the U.S but has expanded internationally. They specialize in products such as drinkware and Tupperware for outdoor use.
Since summer is a time for camping and spending time outdoors, this is a great collaboration for cute and sturdy merch!
Summer Tail Mug 355ml
Price: 20,000 won
We were not surprised to see this kind of mug since the Starbucks logo is a mermaid! Maybe that is why the summer line seemed so fitting.
The body of the mug is scale textured with a blue and purple color gradient. It is decorated with purple flukes on the top of the handle.
For us, this mug was a bit heavy, especially if you add liquid in, then the weight would almost double. But it sure is pretty to look at!
Summer1 Mare Foldable Backpack
Price: 21,000 won
Unfortunately, we were able to see an unfolded version of this backpack, but we were able to find it on the Starbucks Korea website.
Source: Starbucks Korea
The whole bag fits into the shell pocket so it takes up minimal space if you are not actively using it.
It is a lovely shade of blue so we think it will really stand out in the summer.
The bag itself is made of lightweight material so you can bring it with you anywhere.
Under Sea Glass Server 600ml
Price: 25,000 won
We can already visualize this server filled with ice-cold lemonade set up on a poolside table.
The blue to clear gradation, with blue lid and handle, looks very refreshing.
At first glance, it seemed pretty small but according to the description is can hold up to 600ml which is about the size of a venti Starbucks cup.
Under Sea Water Ball Tumbler 355ml
Price: 23,000 won
From afar, this item looks like any other summer tumbler.
But when you look closely, a ball filled with water on the bottom, and inside that ball is a bear-mermaid figure! Isn't it so cute?
The ball is similar to a snowglobe, but instead of snow, there are mini gold stars.
There are bubbles, seaweed, and coral printed along the side to really enhance the underwater feel of the tumbler.
Definitely one of our favorite items.
Under Sea Togo Tumbler 473ml
Price: 35,000 won
If the aforementioned tumbler is a bit cutesy for your taste, we think you will like the Under Sea Togo Tumbler. It definitely has a more elegant feel.
The lid is a pretty shade of coral, while the cup part of the tumbler is aqua blue.
Printed on the side is "Starbucks Coffee Co." and a mermaid design. The flukes of the mermaid are also shades of pink and coral to match the lid.
This is a fun and bright tumbler that is perfect for the summer.
Summer Goblet Glass 355ml
Price: 23,000 won
This glass matched perfectly with the Under Sea Glass Server. They both have similar hues of blue.
There are two gold mermaids printed like they are swimming around the Starbucks logo.
This glass will make even drinking water seem elegant.
Mare Cold Cup 710ml
Price: 21,000 won
Another item that seems fitting to the Starbucks logo.
If we phrase it like, "you can sip your drink from the tail of a mermaid," it doesn't sound very appealing, does it? Either way, the scale pattern with the blue and purple color gradient looks shimmery and chic.
Also, when light hits the cup at the right angle, the reflective nature of the scale outlines makes for a rainbow.
These kinds of cups are our favorite because you can have them on your bedside table and take a sip whenever you are thirsty.
Let be honest have you ever been in a scenario when you are in bed and want water, but are too lazy to go to the kitchen? Well having a giant cold cup nearby eliminates this issue, and unlike a mug or cup, the enclosed lid prevents dust from getting in.
Mare Stanley Tonga Vaccum Thermos 710ml
Price: 52,000 won
Okay in candidly speaking, spending over 50,000 won for a tumbler may seem expensive. But we have to say, Stanley products are VERY durable. Since they are geared for outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, and backpacking, they are made to last.
One of our editors who owns a Stanley thermos dropped hers in a concrete stairwell, but there were no significant dents. So she trusts and recommends Stanley products, granted they do run on the heavier side.
Plus who doesn't love this color? But, we may be biased since mint blue is of our favorite colors.
Mare Stanley Bates Vacuum 473ml
This thermos is best for hot drinks. Since it is insulated it will keep your drink warm for hours.
The main body is a pretty shade of purple, while the lid and handle are light blue. We can't help but feel relaxed when looking at this color combination, actually, it kind of reminds us of cotton candy.
No need to unscrew to open, simply flip the tap and drink.
Mare Stanley Food Jar 414 ml
Another insulated thermos, except this product, is for food.
Perfect for storing oatmeal or porridge to bring on a hike.
This jar is very fun and bright. We love this shade of pink!
Mare Hillside Tumbler 355ml
Price: 31,000 won
Another one of our favorites, in fact, we couldn't resist but buy this tumbler.
At first, it looks like another pink tumbler, but when you look closely, it is glittery!
The mermaid and fish design is subtle and the light blue lid really ties the whole tumbler together.
Mare Stanley Dew Cup Set 355ml
Price: 24,000 won
Picture this, you are camping or on a picnic with a friend or significant other, and you would like to share a soda or beer. Just bust out these cups and enjoy!
No confusion of whose cups is whose, since you can differentiate by the color of the koozie.
The koozie also comes off to make washing the cups easier.
Mare DW Color Changing Tumbler 473ml
Price: 24,000 won
This design of this tumbler is pretty on its own, but when you add ice, it will turn a darker shade of blue!
So it mimics what it would be like to go deeper into the ocean.
And speaking of the ocean, there are marine-related designs around the cup.
Our favorite is the seahorse. We love that they added bits of pink as part of the spines.
Mare Zia Water Bottle 473ml
A simple and lightweight water bottle you can take anywhere.
The lilac purple helps the pink strap pop even more!
While many of the other items had direct ocean-related designs, this one is simpler so we think it is great to use year-round!
Seasonal Food and Drinks
Banana Tart
Price: 6,500 won
Full disclosure, we don't like the taste of artificial banana and only tried this tart for the sake of this blog.
But we were surprised at how delicious this tart was! There was no overpowering banana taste. Instead, it was a perfect combination of creamy and custardy.
Our photos may not capture it but there were layers to this tart. The crust, then a layer of custard, topped with banana mousse, and lightly dusted with powdered sugar.
We also liked the added chocolate decorations.
If you have a sweet tooth, we recommend this summer treat.
Shining Muscat Ade (Tall)
Price: 5,900 won
Muscat is a popular flavor in the summer amongst Koreans.
We are unsure if it was because we also had the banana tart, but this drink was very sweet. There were chunks of jelly, and we were able to tell there were bits of muscat. Warning if you don't like slimy textures, you may not like the jelly.
In general, Korean "ade" drinks are a combination of sparkling water, fruit, and sugar syrup so these drinks run on the sweet side anyway. When served these drinks are in distinct layers so you have to mix well.
We have to admit, even though it was bordering on the edge of too sweet for our taste, this drink was refreshing.
Forest Cold Brew (Tall)
Price: 5,900 won
This was a drink ordered by another editor at Starbucks Byeoldabang in Myeongdong.
It got its name because the drink itself is meant to represent a forest. This combines cold brew and matcha.
In contrast to the muscat ade, this drink isn't too sweet because there is a slight bitterness from the cold brew.
Regular Starbucks Korea Items
We would also like to share some other basic items that can be found at these stores!
Been There Korea Mug and Tumbler
Price:
Tumbler: 17,000 won
Large Mug: 15,000 won
Small Mug 9,000 won
Any Starbucks lover may have a collection of Been There mugs and/or tumblers. So of course, when you visit Korea you can add another location or begin your collection.
Some highlights on this mug and tumbler include Gyeongbokgung, Namsan Tower, and traditional Korean masks.
Korean City Tour Tumblers and Mugs
Price: Tumbler: 33,000 won
In addition to the "Been There" series items, there were mugs and tumblers dedicated to a couple of major cities in Korea.
The cities available are Seoul, Busan, Incheon, and Gyeongju.
All the cities are different colors so we think it would be fun to start a collection and buy one when/if you visit that city.
