Avoid the Crowds: 3 Seoul Cherry Blossom Spots

Cherry blossoms are forecasted to bloom starting April 3rd in Seoul this year! Popular places in Seoul to go see them include places like Seoul Forest, Seokchon Lake, and more. But as these are the main hotspots, they are the most crowded. So, I’m here to give you 3 spots in Seoul where you can see the cherry blossoms with a fraction of the crowds and just the same amount of joy.
1. Sinchon Main Street
📍 연세로 / Yonsei-ro
Starting from Sinchon Station Exit 1 or 2, you can walk along a whole street of blossom trees that line the Sinchon Main Street. I live in the Sinchon area and watching the buses drive up and down the street, music playing out of various stores, and the leisurely flow of people walking had such a pleasant atmosphere. I would also suggest a visit to Yonsei University, which also has a couple of blossoms and magnolia trees that will be in bloom; which will make the most out of your trip to Sinchon!
Side note: There are busking performances usually held on Fridays and weekends in front of the Hyundai Uplex Mall, so that is another fun activity to consider while viewing the cherry blossoms.

2. Hapjeong
📍양화로6길 / Yanghwa-ro 6 gil
If you prefer to have a more sit-down type of viewing, I’d recommend checking out Hapjeong Street! While the whole street is lined with blossoms, it’s also lined with plenty of restaurants and cafes so you can look at the flowers tableside. When I went to Hapjeong, I went to Cafe Margaret; which offered seating right outside facing the street. So while I was enjoying my drink and cake, I was also in awe of how beautiful the trees were captured in the light and how pretty the petals were falling when a breeze would pass by.  It was such a perfect afternoon and I will definitely be going there again this year!

3. Gyeongui Forest Line
📍경의선숲길 / Gyeongui Line Forest Trail
My last recommendation is the Gyeongui Forest Line. This would be for those who prefer seeing the flowers just by themselves and not crowded with buildings. The forest trail is a beautiful sight of cherry blossom trees that you can enjoy seeing on your way to Hongdae/Yeonnamdong, or Gongdeok Station depending on where you start your walk. There is plenty of space to walk and take pictures, as well as a couple of cafes along the way!
