A Day Out in Seongsu

You may have heard something about " The Brooklyn of Seoul" or the area where all the pop-ups are, which is Seongsudong. Seongsu was once an industrial area with shoemakers and leather factories in the past but has now been transformed into one of the trendiest neighborhoods in Seoul.
So, I want to share what I did in my outing in Seongsu, to give you an idea of all the things you can do and see there!

I went to Seongsu on a Sunday, and I would like to note that I do not recommend going there during Fridays or during the weekend as it gets super crowded.
I first started by checking out a small art exhibition by the artist Kim Jeong-hee. The name of the exhibition was La Lumiere and featured several paintings of the artists' interpretation of waves and water. I found the pieces to be quite beautiful and felt immersed in her vision of the water. A note from the artist that struck me was, "The day when the waves break, we will see the light behind them."

After that, I headed to the main street where all the pop-ups are usually held. As expected, many people were walking around, going in and out of stores or restaurants and stores. Besides pop-ups, Seongsu is the home to many hip fashion brands and eateries.

I then just walked along the street, doing a mix of window shopping and people-watching. I passed by a store that a huge line any found out that some sort of fansign or meet and greet with a body builder was taking place there.

I then came upon the Seventeen Pop Up, and decided to check it out!

There are two separate lines, one for the clothing merchandise and another for the rest of the pop up. I decided to check out the pop up itself, where they had standees of the members, a section to receive a small skincare gift, a message wall, and a keychain making station. The pop up also has a display case of Seventeen’s trophies they’ve received from awards shows.

After the Seventeen pop up, I decided to make my way down to Seoul Forest to check out the cherry blossoms. They’ve just started blooming and I thought on a day with such nice weather, it wouldn’t hurt to take a walk through nature.
As I mentioned before, Fridays and the weekends are quite crowded so as I expected, Seoul Forest was too. There were many people there picnicking or checking out the flowers like I was.

The flowers were beautiful though, and I expect the rest of the forest to fully bloom throughout the next two weeks.

And with Seoul Forest, that concludes my outing in Seongsu! I hope it was helpful in getting an idea of what a versatile and hip place Seongsu was is^^
So you’re into walking and into window shopping, Seongsu is the perfect place to go~
