This time I planned an intercity trip in Korea and needed to take KTX to Gyeongju Station for the first time, so I booked the train ticket in advance through a booking platform. From searching the train schedule to completing the purchase, everything could be done online, the process was simple and intuitive, and it was very convenient for anyone who needs to plan their itinerary ahead of time.
The day before departure I also received a reminder notification from the system, including booking details and time confirmation, which made planning more reassuring and helped avoid forgetting the train schedule at the last minute.
You can check your reservation details again on the day of travel to clearly confirm your trip information. For first-time users of the booking platform, the information is presented fully, making the experience fairly user-friendly.
After arriving at the station I completed the on-site ticket pickup, the ticket clearly showed the train number and time. The KTX train entry process was different from my past rides, you can enter the platform without an extra ticket check, which felt pretty novel for a first-time experience. Most travelers on site also followed the rules, boarding only after buying their tickets

After the train arrived at the destination, I took photos of the station exterior, the overall layout was clear, and transfers and movement were fairly convenient. Because the itinerary was adjusted later, I also tried to change train at Singyeongju Station, the process was simpler than expected and went smoothly, which kept a good amount of flexibility for independent travelers.

After boarding, the train conductor will walk through with a device to check seat status, likely verifying ticketed seats. Information inside the train car is clear, the riding environment is comfortable, and the overall experience is smooth.

Overall, from booking, reminder notifications, onsite ticket pickup, to actually boarding and adjusting the itinerary, the process was very smooth. This first-time experience using Korea KTX for intercity travel not only made the trip more efficient, it also gave me a travel experience different from before.
Looking back, I was a bit worried when arranging transportation this time. Traveling between cities isn’t as simple as taking the subway in the same area, and if you buy tickets on the spot, language issues or tight timing could throw off the rest of your schedule. But after preparing the train ticket through the booking platform in advance, the departure day felt much easier. Just go to the station at the scheduled time, no need to worry about buying tickets, and the whole trip felt more relaxed.
While waiting at the station, I took a moment to look around, the signs are pretty clear so finding the platform isn’t too hard, and there are seats in the waiting area. That downtime is perfect for tidying up luggage, double-checking the next stops on your itinerary, or replying to messages, so travel time doesn’t go to waste. When the train entry happens, everyone boards in order, there’s no sense of chaos, and the overall order feels reassuring.
Once on board the space felt more spacious than I expected, the seats were comfortable to use, and there was room to store personal items. I treated the ride as a short rest, tidied up photos I’d taken over the past few days a bit, or just zoned out watching the scenery pass by, switching up the travel rhythm. This stretch of travel became a transition in the itinerary instead of feeling like just rushing from place to place.
After arriving, I reviewed the whole process, and from booking the ticket to riding the train there weren’t any complicated steps, nor did I feel uncertain at any point, so it’s fairly easy for first-time users. Especially for independent travelers who need to control their own pace, getting transportation sorted in advance gives peace of mind and makes it easier to focus on enjoying the trip itself.
This KTX ride didn’t just handle intercity travel, it also gave me more time to enjoy the World of Gyeongju. The whole process was smooth, saving the time and fatigue of taking a bus, and left a great impression for my first intercity rail trip. If I plan a similar route again, I’ll book the train ticket in advance to reduce travel stress and give the amusement park visit more breathing room, so I can enjoy it even more.
