Busan slow-travel itinerary: Taejongdae mini train + seaside café for a relaxing day

This day was planned for a stroll along Busan's coastline, with a relaxed schedule and not too many activities, mainly to find a place to unwind. We ended up at THRILL ON THE MUG and paired it with attractions around the Taejongdae area. After a full day it felt really pleasant, and it's great for a slow-paced trip.

When you first walk up to the cafe, you'll see white stairs extending upward, the overall style is very clean, and with the blue sky it's actually great for photos. Even before going inside, people are already taking pictures here. I stopped here for a moment too, the light was nice, perfect for snapping a few photos before going in.

When I walked into the shop, the first thing I noticed was the bread section, neatly arranged with quite a few varieties. The wall design is simple but distinctive, making you glance at it more than once. I hadn't decided what to eat yet, so I took a photo first, because the place just looked so stylish.

There are lots of bread options, both sweet and savory, and they all look tempting. I ended up choosing a simpler flavor and a drink, and once I sat down and ate slowly, I realized how important this little break is.

Indoor seating has large floor-to-ceiling windows where you can see the sea directly. Sitting inside, sipping coffee and watching the ocean outside really makes you slow down. That day we stayed here for a while, chatting and resting, and it felt very relaxing.
After spending some time at the cafe, we continued walking toward Taejongdae.

After arriving at Taejongdae, you can take the park's mini train, which looks very cute and doesn't go too fast. Riding it along the route, you can see the sea and the wooded scenery, it's actually quite relaxing and you don't have to keep walking, so it's perfect for people who want to take it easy.

One stop is the white lighthouse, and it looks really beautiful against the blue sky. It’s windier here, but standing there watching the sea feels very open and freeing. I stayed for a little while just taking in the view, and it was so relaxing.

Walking along the coast, you can see rocks interlaced with crashing waves, and the sound of the surf hitting the shore is actually quite soothing. This stretch feels close to nature, with very little commercial atmosphere.

This photo was taken at the Taejongdae landmark, where many people stop to take pictures. We took one too as a keepsake, it was a little highlight of the day.
Overall, the pace here is very different from the city, with fewer shops and less noise, making it ideal for people who want to relax and take a slow stroll.
I really liked this day’s plan. First stop at a cafe to sit and relax, then head to Taejongdae to stroll, see the sea, and ride the mini train, so it’s not too tiring overall but not too monotonous either. Compared to rushing from spot to spot, this kind of itinerary actually leaves a stronger impression.
Busan’s coastal spots each have their own charm, and the area around Taejongdae feels more natural and peaceful. If it’s your first time here, or you want a relaxed itinerary that doesn’t rush, this place is a great fit.
Especially sea‑view cafes like THRILL ON THE MUG add a relaxing stop to the itinerary, not just great for photos, the time spent sitting there actually feels even more worthwhile.
If I have a chance to come to Busan again, I'd still want to plan a similar route, find a favorite cafe, pair it with a seaside walk and a few simple activities, and without too much planning, still get a great travel experience.
