Awesome hike but have to have your own car and drive from Goyang/Seoul area. Because it is far out, tends not to be crowded. The views are stunning. The hike up is pretty steep, I would recommend wearing good hiking shoes or trail runners. Always remember to bring hydration and calories (food) -- there is really no place to buy food on the way to the summit. The summit may have some food options depending on the seasons. Please always go prepared whenever in the mountains.

Gamaksan is a good day hike within driving distance from Seoul. Although the surrounding views aren't particularly noteworthy, there is some Korean War history spots on the mountain, and on a clear day you can see as far into North Korea as the city of Kaesong, which is pretty cool. The hiking is moderately strenuous, but certainly doable for anyone who is in at least decent physical condition. If you have a car and want a good hike with views of North Korea, this is a good one

You will be more happy and pleased by visiting this place in autumn then other season. The best time i thinkg is on october full month. I will suggest complete the total hike to top of the gamaksan. Two ways to go up there,, Take one route and get down to another rought thats how you will get to see the total view of gamaksan.

First time for me climb up a mountain, make sure to bring snacks and drinks. Enjoy the view from the top.

Took a hike here this morning. Time didn't allow for the whole route. but would love to do it sometime. Trails are easy to walk, well laid out. Enjoyed it much and highly recommend it.
