My second time staying here, albeit my first time was 6 years ago, and I have to say the place has largely remained unchanged for the most part, which is always a good thing. As everyone has stated, it's literally steps away from Jongno 3-Ga station, which transfers onto lines going in every major tourist area you'd probably want to go to. But even then, from Jongno, you can walk towards Dongdaemun and Myeongdong anyway. Insadong is just across with so many places to eat and have coffee, etc. Evening is very noisy, so expect that when you visit, but for me in particular, I welcome the ambient vibes as they all ad to the very Korean nightlife vibes. There is the odd yelling and car honks, though, but it's not as problematic as others have made it out to be. Now to the rooms, they're nowhere near the size of North American standard hotel rooms, BUT they're adequate enough to do the job. Stayed in their standard/classic suite with my wife, and we had no issues with the size or cleanliness. Bed mattress is EXTREMELY FIRM. So if you don't like firm matresses, you will NOT like the bed. Thankfully, due to my nagging back issues, I woke up refreshed after 12 hours of walking around Seoul. My only problem would of been the pillows. Wayyyy too hard. While I like a firm mattress, a softer pillow would have been nicer for both my wife and I. Fridge came stocked with 4 water bottles, which was a nice added touch, two guest robes, which we definitely took advantage of, and a safe and guest slippers. I will say the slippers they initially had 6 years ago were substantially of better quality and felt more like home slippers where as the ones they now provide are the airline type single ply type paper sheet one, still I get it. It's probably a lot more cost efficient. Room came with a 3 wire charging adapter for phones and devices such as iPads, which is a nice touch as I didn't even have to break out my own. Shampoo, conditioner, body gel/soap all good and above average quality and dermatologist recommended which is nice for someone who has sensitive skin and eczema. A/C worked adequately, although it would have been nice to have an instruction manual for it in english as well as an english remote control for the TV. I couldn't get in and out of live TV or Netflix and had to choose one or the other, although having Netflix as a choice is a pretty decent bonus. There is a second floor game room which has an emulator arcade style gaing system which worked well. Free popcorn and water bottles too. The sofa in that room could use reupholstery but it does match the mid century modern vibe they have in the main lobby, so it could be there on purpose... also if you're feeling kinky with your partner, the game room has an "adult touch screen dispenser" with you know... "adult stuff" *wink, wink* All in all great place. I'm glad to see it well kept. There is also an attached restaurant on the main floor which seems to get busy at night so arrive around 6 to 7ish to get a table as it seems once people start drinking they don't leave until late. Can't wait to come back!

Situated right beside Insadong & the entrance to a metro station, location is convenient. Beds and toilets were clean and comfortable. Room also a large smart TV. However, its proximity to Insadong also means loud noises from the street level at nights, and earplugs are provided by the hotel. Staff did not understand english, and translations with a tool was needed. Staff were also not the most helpful & professional - asks for assistance in booking cabs/ more amenities were met with complaints in korean assumimg we did not understand.

The rooms are clean enough, so that's a big plus. Location is also good. Staff wise, well there's one guy who often works the counter, who I'm sure is the one the other reviews mention, who absolutely does not want to be there and is super unhelpful. If you need anything you won't get it, and his attitude is super off-putting. Didn't get a chance to really interact with anyone else, sadly. Room condition is also meh, little things like a broken shower head or holes in the sheets. Overall, its sits as an "okay" hotel amongst the ones on my Asia trip.

Great location for going out, can't be beat. On the other hand, we did not like the hotel facilities. Our shower door wouldn't open smoothly (we had to kick it open), the bathroom faucet shoots water all over, the shower drains very slowly and backs up, etc. I can imagine the hotel went through this kind of history, to explain its seemingly upbeat and hip decorum with its run-down, ragged state: I imagine 5-8 years ago a developer contracted to put together a hotel here. They designed a hip layout, cool fixtures, and great location. Then, after 1-2 years, they outsourced the management of the place to roughshot penny pinchers, or more likely, a bunch of kids (who are all I see at the desk). With barebones maintenance budgets and a priority only to save on cost, the place slowly degraded over time to its current state. Furniture in the common areas is dirty or ripped apart (e.g,. the fancy leather couch in the game room with its huge holes), little things like the fact that the refridgerator opens on the left hinge, but the door that houses it opens on the right hinge, meaning you can barely open it, mar the experience at this hotel. There are piles of materials in the hallway, and the maintenance closets are left open overnight with equipment (vacuum) left there for days. This is not the worst place I've stayed, and it does have a great location. I hope they hire a skilled maintenance person and do a thorough evaluation of all the facilities.
