Springtime in Jeju: wandering through city corners overflowing with cherry blossoms

This time on Jeju I planned a very relaxed yet fulfilling half-day mini trip, starting from the lively Dongmun Market, walking along to Sinsan Park where cherry blossoms are in full bloom, then visiting the culturally rich Jeju Folklore & Natural History Museum, and finally strolling to the hottest cherry blossom viewing spot, Daenong-ro. The whole route can pretty much be done on foot, making it perfect for people who enjoy slow travel.
Start your morning at Dongmun Market to find breakfast, it’s a great place to wander, with all kinds of local snacks, seafood, and souvenirs, and it’s so fun to walk and eat. There are many hot food stalls inside the market where you can buy food to eat right away, like eomuk (fish cake), tteokbokki, fried snacks, and more, all highly recommended, and you can also buy fresh fruit or juice to recharge. The overall vibe feels very local, not overly touristy, and prices are pretty friendly, so it’s a perfect first stop on your trip, fill up your stomach before you head out!
Also highly recommend this Hotteok (Korean sweet pancake), only 1,000 KRW! Now in Seoul Station they cost 1,500 to 2,000 KRW, and this place even offers a mugwort flavor to choose from 😍 I usually eat too many Hotteok (Korean sweet pancake), so this time I picked the mugwort flavor

After leaving the market, take a leisurely walk to Sinsan Park, it’s about a 15 to 20 minute walk. Along the way you’ll see Jeju City street scenes, the pace feels relaxed. Once you arrive at the park you’ll be amazed by the cherry blossoms, the whole park is dotted in pink and feels dreamy, and there aren’t as many crowds so you can comfortably take photos and stroll. The cherry blossom trees are spread out widely, not concentrated in one spot, so you’ll find different views wherever you go, making it perfect for slow exploration.

Next, you can conveniently walk to the Jeju Folklore & Natural History Museum, which is not far from Sinsan Park, about a 10-minute walk. It’s a great spot to slow down and learn about Jeju’s history and culture. The museum displays Jeju’s natural environment, traditional ways of life, and folk characteristics, with quite rich exhibits. If the weather happens to be hot or you want to rest, wandering inside to enjoy the air conditioning is very pleasant, making it a perfect midway stop. The cherry blossoms outside are also in full bloom, many Koreans come to take photos, there aren’t many foreign visitors, so it’s not too crowded.

If you keep walking straight, you'll reach Daenong-ro, a very famous cherry blossom spot in Jeju. During cherry blossom season there's always a cherry blossom festival, and the whole street is surrounded by cherry blossoms, which is truly spectacular. It feels different from the park, it's more like a 'cherry blossom avenue,' with cherry trees lining both sides to form a pink tunnel, and the overall vibe is livelier and more festive.
If you time it right, you can even see the cherry blossoms at dusk or at night, and the atmosphere after the lights are turned on feels completely different, more romantic and atmospheric. Many people linger here for a long time, whether taking photos or just strolling, it’s very soothing.
The whole route isn’t too tiring, it takes about half a day to complete, and the spots are close together, so it’s very convenient. From eating local dishes and seeing cherry blossoms to experiencing culture, you get a variety of travel experiences at once, and you can do almost everything without taking public transport, so it’s great for a day in Jeju City.
If you happen to visit Jeju in spring, I really recommend this route. You don’t need a lot of planning or a rushed schedule, just take it slow and enjoy the sights, and you’ll end up with a relaxing trip full of memorable moments. For me, this unhurried way of traveling lets you feel a city’s most genuine and charming side.
