This time I graduated from a graduate program in Korea, and to get beautiful graduation photos I booked a professional makeup artist. I chose Mareroom near Yeonnam-dong near Hongdae, and booked the everyday hair and makeup (Head stylist course, about 70 minutes). To say the result first, I was really very satisfied!

The first impression upon arriving at the shop was very good. The interior is very bright and clean, and the overall atmosphere feels comfortable. The staff greeted me with warm smiles when we met, which helped ease my initial nerves. The space has a relaxed vibe, and it made me look forward to the upcoming hair and makeup session.
Before doing formal makeup, the Head stylist will first discuss with the client the makeup style they want to achieve, for example a pure look, a natural look, or something more glamorous and mature. The Head stylist will also observe each person’s face shape and facial feature proportions, then offer suitable recommendations. This consultation feels very professional, it’s not just following a template, but making customized adjustments for each person.
During the makeup process you can feel the Head stylist’s attention to detail. The base makeup is adjusted according to your skin condition, resulting in a clean, natural finish without feeling heavy. Eye makeup, contouring, and facial sculpting are also tailored to your face shape, highlighting your best features while minimizing small imperfections.
What stayed with me most was that halfway through the makeup, I looked up at the mirror and couldn’t help laughing. My whole vibe and refinement were lifted so much, it felt like I’d been given a new face, but not in a way where I didn’t recognize myself. It was just a more polished, prettier version of me. That moment made me really happy, and I got even more excited to see how the photos would turn out.

After finishing hair and makeup, I went to take graduation photos, and the overall look photographed really well. The makeup appears natural on camera, facial contours look more defined, and the long-lasting makeup performed great, staying beautiful throughout the whole photoshoot. For events like a graduation ceremony where you take lots of photos and wait a long time, this kind of long-lasting makeup is a real plus.
If I have any important events in the future, I will definitely want the Head stylist to do my makeup again. Highly recommended for people going on dates, attending a graduation ceremony, weddings, or anyone who just wants to see how they look after a professional makeup and hair session. Professional makeup and hair really boost your overall poise and confidence a lot.
Finally, a small tip. This place is pretty popular, so if you want to book, try to schedule early. They accept foreign credit cards on site, but if you use a card issued outside Korea, there is usually a card transaction fee, so check ahead or have another payment method ready.
Overall, I was really satisfied with this experience, not only was the makeup beautiful, but the whole service process felt very comfortable. If I have another important event in the future, I'll probably come back to ask the Head stylist for help.
