When traveling to Korea, besides shopping like crazy in Myeongdong and having coffee in Seongsu-dong, there’s one more item on my must-do list — experiencing authentic Korean nail art in person.
For a long time I've been drawn to those clear, delicate, airy Korean-style nails I see on social media. That subtle, high-end vibe feels very different from the styles you get elsewhere. On this Seoul Station trip I set aside an afternoon to make my nail wish come true at the popular Nail Box salon in the Hongdae area. Today I want to share the full process from booking to final result in detail.

📅 Pre-trip prep: why choose Creatrip to book?
For tourists who don’t speak Korean, booking beauty appointments in Korea is often the most frustrating part. Many popular shops only accept KakaoTalk reservations or require a local Korean phone number.
This time I chose Creatrip platform. The reason is simple:
Full Chinese interface, so you don't have to worry about translation mistakes, all services and prices are clearly shown at a glance.
Reservation guarantee: after paying the deposit online, the system will confirm your time slot immediately, saving you from language back-and-forth with the staff.
Reviews are genuine, there are lots of real reviews and photos from travelers of different countries on the platform, which made me more confident in choosing Nail Box.
Hongdae is Seoul Station's trend hub, with fierce competition among nail salons and aesthetics that tend to lead the scene. Nail Box has a big reputation in the Hongdae shopping area, known for delicate technique and a wide variety of styles, and that's why I ultimately decided to trust them with my nails.

📍 Arriving at Hongdae Nail Box: shop atmosphere and communication
Nail Box is located in the heart of the Hongdae shopping district, with very convenient access. As soon as you step into the salon, you can feel that Korean-style minimalist decor, the space is clean, bright, and full of professional vibes.
After I sat down, the nail technician kindly confirmed my reservation details. Although my Korean wasn’t fluent, the staff were very patient, communicating with me using simple English and body language. Best of all, I took out the reference photos I had saved beforehand (the kind with a translucent sheen and accessories), and the technician immediately nodded to show she understood.
Tip: Before getting your nails done, be sure to save several reference photos you like on Instagram, this is more accurate than any language description!

💅 Procedure: delicate techniques and professional skills
The whole procedure took about an hour and a half to two hours, and I have to say, Korean nail technicians' attention to detail is truly impressive.
1. Basic care and nail grooming
The nail technician first performed a deep hand cleanse and nail shaping. I chose the longer Almond shape, which helps visually slim the fingers and makes the hands look more delicate. The cuticle trimming was very gentle, with no discomfort at all.
2. Cat eye and gradient-blending techniques
The core of this design was 'Cat eye' and 'translucent ombré'. The nail artist first applied a base color with magnetic pigment, then expertly used a special magnet to pull out the shine. The way that light and shadow shift as your fingertips move is endlessly captivating. Next, she used multi-layered stacking techniques to create a natural ombré that looks part marble, part cloud.
3. Highlight: silver 3D bow
The final highlight was adding a 3D bow charm on the ring finger. The nail artist carefully adjusted its position, making sure the bow’s angle was perfect and secure. This little silver accessory instantly added a refined, ceremonial feel to the otherwise gentle style, and it’s also an extension of this year’s trend, Balletcore.

✨ Final result: These are the nails of my dreams!
When the final layer of Top coat was cured under the lamp and they applied Cuticle oil, I was honestly blown away!
Color effect: presents a subdued champagne pink tone, combined with the Cat eye's fine shimmer, making the skin on the hands look very fair in natural light.
Sheer, jelly-like texture, clear and translucent with no heavy plastic feel at all.
Quality upgrade: that silver bow is not out of place, instead it becomes the soul of the whole set, giving the fingertips a refined, rich-girl vibe.
Whether you're holding a coffee cup or casually resting your hand on the sleeve of a light-colored knit (like in the photo), this set of nails looks as beautiful as a piece of art. After I returned home, my friends kept asking where I had them done, and many said they wanted to book an appointment in Korea too!

💡 Tips for those planning to get nails done in Korea: a few handy pointers
If you're tempted too, here are a few tips for your reference:
Booking in advance is key: Hongdae is a hot spot, especially on weekends or evenings, so it's best to reserve your spot on Creatrip at least two weeks ahead.
Note about extra charges: A basic booking usually covers a single color or simple design. For more complex nail art, removing previous polish, or adding 3D decorations like my bow, you may need to pay an additional fee on site, so it’s best to confirm the total price with the nail tech before they start.
Care and longevity: Korean nail art usually lasts well, but I recommend applying hand cream and Cuticle oil more often after your appointment to keep the area around the nail bed moisturized, this helps the manicure stay looking nicer.
Summary
My experience at Hongdae Nail Box this time really showed me how mature Korea's nail industry is. From the easy booking with Creatrip to the nail technicians' skilled work, every detail made me feel it was great value.
A little surprise on your fingertips can brighten your whole day. If you're planning a trip to Korea, consider setting aside an hour for a glamorous nail transformation. Seeing this 'bow Cat eye nail' set, I feel like this Seoul Station trip was truly perfect!
