Dongdaemun-gu is a district located in the northeastern part of Seoul, about 5km northeast from the center of Seoul. It has a population of about 330,000, making it a mid-sized district within Seoul. The representative landmark, DDP, is an abbreviation for Dongdaemun Design Plaza, a building designed by world-renowned architect Zaha Hadid, famous for its geometric and organic exterior. DDP is used as a space for various cultural activities such as exhibitions, fashion, design, and conventions. Inside, there are various exhibition halls, museums, design labs, libraries, cafes, shopping malls, etc., and various exhibitions, cultural events, and fashion shows are held. Dongdaemun-gu is a representative commercial district of Seoul, where Dongdaemun Market and Gyeongdong Market are located. In addition, it is home to the largest complex shopping mall in the northeastern region, including Lotte Department Store, Lotte Mart, and Lotte Cinema, along with Cheongnyangni Station.
