Our Visit
Song Gye Ok is located near Apgujeong Rodeo Station. It's so popular that Koreans often line up to have a meal here! It is especially known for its delicious grilled chicken and the Earl Grey Highball.
It also became even more popular after famous actor Song Kang visited on multiple occasions. His signature is even displayed at the entrance!
The first floor has long tables with many seats that multiple parties can sit at. If your group only has a couple people, it may be best to sit at one of the tables on the first floor.
We went in a group of three, so we were seated at a table on the second floor. The second floor is more spacious and has big windows, making it a comfortable space.
After we placed our order, they served us side dishes and sauce.
Song Gye Ok Combination Plate - 44,000 KRW (2-3 Servings)
We decided to go with their most popular dish, the Song Gye Ok Combination Plate (송계옥 모둠 한 판). It comes with an assortment of special cuts of chicken that allows you to try various parts of the chicken!
Earl Grey Highball - 8,500 KRW
We also ordered the famous Earl Grey Highball! It was super refreshing and went really well with the meal.
At Song Gye Ok, the staff will take care of the grilling and cook each piece of meat carefully for you.
While grilling, they explained the names of each different cut and suggested which sauce combinations would taste best.
You can mix the garlic, yuzu chili, and pickled soy chilis and eat it together with the chicken meat. There is also a plate of Sriracha mayo, salt, and soy sauce for each person, so you can try all kinds of different flavor combinations!
There are lots of other menu items available at Song Gye Ok as well!
Song Gye Ok Cold Udon - 9,000 KRW
We ordered the Cold Udon, which is a seasonal menu item for summer. It's a cold udon noodle dish topped with seasoned chicken and a poached egg! The noodles were chewy and refreshing and went perfect with the broth.
Song Gye Ok Bibim Noodles - 9,000 KRW
The Song Gye Ok Bibim noodles come with plenty of vegetables and meat! It's best to mix it all together before eating it. Song Gye Ok is not only famous for its chicken dishes, but also for its noodles! It is highly recommended to try both.
Yaki Onigiri - 4,000 KRW (2 Pieces)
The Yaki Onigiri is a Japanese-style rice ball that is grilled for a crispy outer coating. It has black sesame seeds inside and comes with pickled yellow radish. The Yaki Onigiri had a perfect savory flavor that paired well with the grilled chicken. Here at Song Gye Ok, you can enjoy both special chicken cuts and other unique dishes!
How To Get There
Leave from Apgujeong Rodeo Station Exit 5 and turn around so you're facing the exit.
Go straight past the exit and turn left at the corner into the alleyway.
