Modern hanbok experience Danha Hanbok

My first time trying a modern hanbok was because I wanted a more relaxed shopping experience, and I was curious about modern hanbok designs, so I booked Danha in Samcheongdong

My reservation was for late March, originally at 9:30 AM, but taking the bus would have been too tight, so I called the shop and they agreed to push it back to 10:30 AM.
The hanbok shop is in a small alley, after taking two bus transfers from Sinchon get off at the Samcheong-dong Resident Center bus stop, then it’s about a 5-minute walk to arrive.
Changing outfits is actually quick, you can choose two sets, and they provide a simple braided hairstyle and a hair ribbon, I was dressed by around 11:45, and the staff will give you a large cardboard box to store your original clothes and bag.
I originally booked 2 hours, but worried it wouldn’t be enough time to explore, so I paid on-site to add another hour. In reality, 3 hours still wasn’t enough, because the streets around Samcheongdong are so fun to walk, and there are a lot of stairs. If you want to stroll around in a hanbok and stop at a cafe to rest, I recommend renting for 4 hours.
I was only wearing a single top and felt a bit chilly, so I bought a jacket at a nearby clothing shop.
The shop staff even helped take photos, haha

Then we started shopping.
There’s a beautiful tea house nearby called Chadam Tea House, it displays many paintings of girls in hanbok that are really pretty and draw you in.

I ordered milk tea and a snack to enjoy, the atmosphere here is very comfortable and relaxed, not crowded at all.

Share a quick impression, I rented a below-knee skirt and top, but I actually recommend a one-piece dress more, too bad the skirt was really too long so I gave up

Compared to traditional hanbok, modern hanbok is really more lightweight and convenient.

You also don't need to worry about stepping on the skirt, and when you walk on the street it doesn't really look like hanbok so it won't stand out too much.

The flowers in front of this hotel are so pretty

Passed by a hanok gallery, the folding screen inside was so beautiful.
It was so beautiful that I asked a woman also visiting the exhibit to take a photo of me, I’m really grateful to her.
The hanok garden happened to be empty, so I used a tripod to take the photos.

I’d actually recommend renting a hanbok in the afternoon
Because the noon sun shines straight down, photos aren’t as soft as they are in the afternoon.

The dress fabric felt really nice. The staff originally tucked my top in, but it made me look a bit bulky, so I pulled it out. Next time I'll definitely choose one-piece dress, haha

The nearby Jeongdok Library building is really beautiful, but I didn't have enough time to go inside because I had to return the hanbok 😭. After taking pictures I ran all the way back to the hanbok shop, since I had to get back before 2:45 PM.
After taking off the hanbok, with the staff's permission I took photos of the shop's outfits, then reluctantly left.

The long skirt is really beautiful 🥰 Too bad it's so long, it can be hard to move around. Also, because it's sleeveless, I recommend wearing a strapless bandeau inside, and for March weather try to bring a wool or knit cardigan to layer, since just wearing the top can still feel chilly when the wind blows. Finally, here are some of my own photos,
If you're interested, please keep watching.

The noon sun was strong and I didn’t know how to take photos

It must be even more beautiful when spring brings the flowers.

I also wish everyone finds a hanbok shop they like and has a pleasant experience.
