I still remember the instant impact when I first saw photos of the 'Starfield Library' on social media. Towering bookshelves and warm light pouring down made it feel like a temple of knowledge in the heart of a modern city. On this trip to Korea, I decided to make the Starfield Library the first stop in my Gangnam itinerary, step into this dreamy book universe in person, and use it as the starting point for an in-depth exploration of Gangnam that blends literature, fashion, and food.
Entering the dream: The breathtaking Starry Sky Library 🥰
📍The Starry Sky Library is located in the trendy landmark of Jiangnan District😍
Inside COEX Mall. Stepping out from Samseong Station on the subway, you’re instantly surrounded by the mall’s bustle and a dazzling array of goods. Just as you wonder, “A library here?” a turn in the corridor suddenly opens up a bright view before you. 😍😍
First impression shock:
That feeling is impossible to describe precisely with words. A three-story-tall, 13-meter-tall bookshelf rises like a wall, neatly holding more than fifty thousand books. The finishing touch is the light spilling from the 'sky' — not sunlight, but countless warm fixtures that, like stars, illuminate this universe of knowledge. There is no sense of a roof pressing down here, only the grandeur and expansiveness of an open space.
More than just a photo spot: ✨
Although everyone was taking photos (which was completely expected), the library miraculously maintained a peaceful atmosphere. People sat or stood; some were truly immersed in the world of books, while others just stared off into space, enjoying this momentary detachment. I found a seat in a corner and casually picked up a design magazine. Even though I couldn't read Korean, the exquisite images and the surroundings were themselves a delightful aesthetic experience 💖
