Custom norigae fabrication

We wanted a special souvenir from South Korea, so we looked for lots of activities. We came across a norigae-making workshop, a Korean good-luck charm, and it sounded perfect. Booking was easy and hassle-free. We found the shop quite easily, it was on Insadong Street, near the Ssamziegil shops, which is also a must-do!
Once in the shop, we talked with the owner, who explained the different parts of a norigae and the options for making one with all the possible components. Choosing was hard with so many beautiful pieces available. The booking notes 30 minutes for choosing, but we were faster than that. She then showed us the pliers and a ring used to open the jump rings to connect the different parts. We struggled a bit with the rings, but with patience and effort we assembled our norigae ourselves.

Just so you know, there were three of us, two women and one man. My brother-in-law was worried he wouldn’t enjoy making it because he thought he’d have to deal with elements that were too feminine. In the end, he was pleasantly surprised and was able to make a norigae that suited him. There were lots of color options, so it was really nice.
Our fun activity also drew people in, so when we left there were several pairs and groups who wanted to assemble their own norigae.

I highly recommend this activity because even with our two left hands, we were able to create memories that felt like us and were very personal.
