K-Art Center Hand-carved Stamp Experience
Package B (Pattern Stamp Carving Experience + Bookmark + Stamp Case)
On this day, I took a nostalgic route in modern Seoul,
and booked a stamp workshop for 10:00 a.m.,
thinking I could grab lunch nearby after it was over.
Handmade stamps have become trendy again in recent years,
and besides making one as a personal keepsake, couple stamps, friendship stamps, and family stamps are also a popular travel souvenir.
If you’re interested in signing up for this stamp workshop,
I recommend heading out a bit earlier,
because there are several stamp shops along this street,

and the destination is on the 2nd floor,
so I spent quite a bit of time finding the right place and ended up being 30 minutes late,
but thankfully the staff were understanding,
and still let me join as booked.
So I recommend leaving early,
so you won’t waste the staff’s time or mess up your own schedule.
This time, at the K-Art Center hand-carved stamp workshop, I booked Creatrip’s Package B (Pattern Stamp Carving Experience + Bookmark + Stamp Case).

After you arrive, the staff will confirm your reserved class, then take you to choose the color of your stamp stone and the pattern for the side engraving!
If it’s your first time carving a stamp like me, don’t worry at all. At K-Art Center there are many colors and stamp stones to choose from, and the matching side engravings are already fully carved. Most designs are simple and easy to understand, and there are also versions made especially for visitors with the word “Korea.”

After choosing your stamp stone, the staff will briefly explain the traditional meaning of stamps in Korea, then you’ll start designing the text you want. Whether you want to carve Korean, Chinese characters, English, or even a simple drawing, it’s all fine! The paper has five boxes, so you can pick your favorite design out of five options.

Next, you trace your draft from the white paper onto parchment paper, then fix it to the bottom of the stamp stone and get ready to carve.

The instructor will teach you how to use the carving knife, and how deep to cut. And even if you’re not fully satisfied after you finish carving, don’t worry, the instructor will help refine it until it looks perfect. Then your one-and-only personalized stamp is complete.

But even though the stamp is finished, the workshop experience isn’t over yet. This thoughtful studio also lets you choose a little pouch to keep your stamp in, all decorated with traditional Korean knotting!

After that, they’ll also take you to a small, pre-decorated photo spot,
so you can capture a memorable moment with the stamp you made yourself.

The whole experience takes about 1 hour.
After finishing your stamp, if you have time,
don’t rush off, take a look around at the studio’s decor.
They have wooden cabinets filled with all kinds of stamps,

Just looking at these paired stamps already feels so meaningful.
