So, I made it to the clinic today and did two treatments on on my face. When I told the doctor I did EXION on my tummy before and it was hella painful, he said it’s because the machine is 25 years old and that the new ones are much more focused with better cooling energy, so I shouldn’t be too afraid. (Because I was!)
It was very easy to find. Right outside the train station!
I told the consultant that my main concern was sagging and firmness. My cheeks dropped quite a bit post weight-loss, making those smile lines quite prominent. I wanted that softened with some lift in the upper cheek. The skin analysis was also done and made my skin look so much worse than I thought it was!
They recommended a million things, but because I’m not a millionaire, I went with the following:
1. XERF is an RF machine and treats the dermis and epidermis for elasticity and firming. I did 600 shots. Pain level was about 3/10. It’s like little electrical shocks to the skin with a bit of a warm sensation.
2. Ultherapy Prime is an ultrasound machine that targets the muscle for lifting. I did 300 shots. I was supposed to do 600, but it would have meant I find a bench to sleep on for the rest of my holiday! The pain was a little more for this because it goes deeper. I’d say 4/10. For me, EXION was about 6/10. The heat close to the bone was almost unbearable for me. This was nothing like it. It’s sharper lasers. Feels like very thin needles and you feel it closer to the bone as well. The jaw area was a little sore.
This was the most important treatment of my trip. Results take about 4-8 weeks to start showing. It’s not an immediate facelift - it stimulates collagen production, which takes time. So now we wait and see.
My skin feels a little tingly afterwards but I can carry on with my day as normal. There’s no downtime. I’m just a little red and a little swollen. The next day (today, as I’m writing this) I noticed some bumps on my skin. It still feels a little tender, but it should be fine in a couple of days.
This was more expensive than I budgeted for, so I’m a little bit disappointed because there are some other treatments I wanted but can’t do anymore, so I really hope this was worth it!
