What I really wanted to do on this Korea trip💋
✨Make my own custom gloss from my favorite, HERA✨
I went to Amorepacific Seongsu!
My first time in Seongsu!
The nearest station to the hotel I was staying at was City Hall Station, and it was just one train ride.
It takes a little over 30 minutes, so the access is pretty decent.
It’s the subway, but there’s a section where it goes above ground, and it was my first time seeing Seoul scenery from the train (other than AREX), which was really fun too.
I’d heard Seongsu is known for streets renovated from old factories, and Amorepacific’s exterior fit that vibe perfectly. Inside, though, it was super clean and beautiful.

At the entrance, I showed my reservation screen, and they said if you sign up as an Amorepacific member you can get gifts and such, so I registered and checked in.
When I showed that screen at checkout, I got an IOPE sample set, so it’s free and I definitely recommend signing up♪

I had a little time before my reservation, so I wandered around the store, it’s really easy to browse since you can test lots of different Amorepacific cosmetics.
When it was time, I headed to the gloss-making experience I was there for.

The machine is right in front of you, and it instantly got me so excited.

Since it’s reservation-only, there was nobody else there when I went, it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves.
It feels so luxurious to have this space all to yourself, right?

I started making my gloss feeling so excited.

You can change the language, so I had it set to Japanese.

You just follow along on the screen as you go.

First, they check which colors suit your skin tone.

Since it’s diagnosed by a machine, it feels really trustworthy.

Then it shows recommended colors that match you.

You choose three colors from those. If you’re unsure, the staff will give advice like, “I think this one will suit you,” so it’s reassuring.

These are the three I picked.
All of them were colors that really suited me, and I was like, wow, it’s amazing what you get by choosing based on a skin analysis!

The screen on the left is my mom’s, and completely different colors came up, so it really felt like it’s truly tailored to each person.

And you can customize not just the color, but also the scent, whether or not it has a plumper effect, the difference in finish like glossy vs. matte, basically everything!
They bring out scent stones, and you choose one fragrance from these.

If you smell too many, you start to lose track of which is which, but I chose the one that felt like, yes, this is it!

They also do a lip swatch (touch-up) with all three of the colors you picked.

I chose the middle color, H346.

After making small adjustments like brightness, it was complete.
After that, I wandered around the store for about 30 minutes.
Since the machine makes it, you just wait until it’s finished.

Seeing it being made like this somehow felt really special.

I received the finished gloss and paid right there.
They also support tax refunds, so I showed my passport too.

I got a consultation (the staff member spoke Japanese, so it was super smooth. Along the way we used Papago here and there, and I tried speaking my limited Korean too, communication was no problem at all), and it was such a fun experience.
Having a one-and-only shade that’s just yours makes such a great memory, doesn’t it?
The color I chose was in the coral family, it looked natural but still felt like I had makeup on, and it was a gorgeous shade that instantly brightened my complexion.
I usually use HERA gloss anyway, but since this is an original color you can’t buy in stores, it makes me happy just having it♡
They can also add a label, so I had my name printed in Hangul🥰
All of this for 45,000 won.
At today’s exchange rate, that’s about 4,800 yen.
Since HERA gloss itself is 4,400 yen at regular price, I think it’s an amazing deal to get a custom-made one for almost the same price♡
Up to two people can participate per reservation slot, so it’s fine as long as one of you can get the booking, and it might also be fun for two people to try booking different times.
It felt like earlier times (it starts at 12:00) were getting booked up quickly (this time was on a Saturday, maybe weekdays are different?), so aiming for a later time might be a good idea!
I’d heard reservations were super competitive, so I got ready five minutes before midnight when bookings opened, and I managed to snag one!
It closes almost instantly in 1 or 2 minutes, but
I think you can book it if you just do it normally🙋♀️
I applied pretty casually, but it ended up being a really full-on experience, and I was super satisfied!
So that’s why I chose the gloss-making experience😊
