I’m MICHIYO, and I previously introduced a hotel at Gongdeok Station on this blog, it has amazing access from the airport and is a pretty central base for going out anywhere.
This time, I’m introducing my second favorite hotel.
Lotte City Hotel Mapo
Gongdeok Station
AREX, Gyeongui Jungang Line, Exit 9
From Lines 5 and 6 Gongdeok Station, you can enter the hotel directly from underground via Exit 2.

There’s an escalator only going up.
But it was often stopped too, so if you have big, heavy luggage, be careful...

It’s a bit of a detour, but there is an elevator as well.
If you follow the elevator sign on the right in the photo, you’ll come out on the side facing the main road below.

If you’re coming from Incheon Airport on AREX, it’s easier to go up at Exit 9 and walk above ground to the hotel.
There are also buses from Incheon Airport 6015/6701/6702
They stop on the main road right in front, so it’s super convenient for bus people too.
On the underground floor there’s a renovated Lotte Super, plus lots of cafes and restaurants, it feels like the hotel is inside an office complex.
There are two hotel buildings, and both are easy to access from underground.

The lobby is on the 2nd floor, you can get there by elevator from underground, or by escalator from the 1st floor.

There’s a Wowpass machine too, but it’s not the usual orange, it’s a stylish black one, so don’t miss it.

There’s also a small 7-Eleven.

The standard rooms are a comfortable size, whether you choose a double or twin.

My favorite thing about this hotel is the bathroom.
It has a bathtub, and it’s a separate enclosed type that fully closes, so for longer stays or in winter, having a tub is such a plus.

I’ve stayed here quite a few times so my memory is a bit fuzzy, but sometimes the TV is a smart TV and sometimes it isn’t, so it might depend on the room plan.

If you’re staying here or at other Lotte group hotels, I strongly recommend signing up, there’s a Lotte Hotel app.
If you book through the Lotte Hotel website, your stays are counted and you earn points, which raises your membership tier and gives you various perks.
I often book depending on price across my favorite sites, so I don’t really rack up stay counts or points, and I’m still SILVER, but they still let me check in early.
And I feel like there may have been times when I got upgraded too, maybe?
If you don’t have a membership card, even if you arrive around 14:45 they can be strict and say check-in is at 15:00, so I think it’s absolutely worth registering even just for early check-in.

Gongdeok Station, where this hotel is located, feels central and easy to get around from, but it’s not a place that’s extremely close to any one spot.
But if you go down underground from the hotel, you can hop right on Lines 5 and 6, so it’s really convenient for getting to Hongdae, Itaewon, and Yeouido.
If you use the AREX or the Gyeongui Jungang Line, Seoul Station and Yongsan are also close, and if you’re comfortable using buses, you’ll have even more places that are easy to reach, so personally, this is one of my top recommended hotels in a favorite area of mine.
There’s not just a supermarket nearby, it’s in the building, and there are tons of cafes and great food spots both inside and outside the building, so for longer stays, this might be the best option...
For convenience from the airport, it’s GLAD Mapo
For getting around to explore the city, this one is great, Lotte City Hotel Mapo
These two are generally around the same price range, but sometimes they can be way too expensive, so as backup options, I often choose Seoul Garden Hotel, then Shilla Stay Mapo, in that order.
I still haven’t stayed at Roynet Hotel in the same area yet, so I’d like to go there and put together a roundup too.
