Abura Soba in Gangnam

This weekend I decided to try an abura soba restaurant in Gangnam. At the time, it was hosting a birthday event for one of my favorite idols so I thought it was a two bird one stone type of thing where I could try a new food and celebrate their birthday.

You’ll first place your order at the kiosk once you're inside, where you have two options of abura soba: plain or spicy. Following that you can decide whether you’d like additional toppings or a soft drink.
The restaurant is small, with a seating capacity of around 15 people. There are coat racks and bins for you to place your belongings and water is self-serve with pitchers on the counter.
From your seat, you can watch as the staff assembles your abura soba bowl and the Soboro being ground. Everyone around me was enjoying their noodles which made me very excited to try mine.
My food came out very quickly with a minimal wait, even despite how busy it was. The presentation and smell itself were almost mouthwatering. I had ordered the plain one, and in front of me on the counter were a couple of sauces such as chili oil recommended to use to help enhance the flavor of the abura soba.
I mixed all the ingredients and started eating, to which I was pleasantly surprised. I loved the textures of the ingredients which varied from the soft poached egg to the crunchy bamboo shoots, All the flavors complement each other to make a salty and savory noodle dish that I thoroughly enjoyed.
If you are still hungry, you can request a small scoop of rice to finish off the remaining sauce in your bowl for free. I took advantage of this and as you can see, left my bowl spotless. I was left feeling full for hours, as this was such a hearty meal.
I will definitely want to come back here and try the spicy version of abura soba as this was such a great experience trying a new food!
