Cafe Recommendation: Osds Yeonnam

There are times where the abstract cafes in Seoul can be a little overwhelming and distracting. Sometimes all you need is a chill spot to relax in and enjoy the atmosphere. If that sounds like you, then I’d recommend a visit to Osds Yeonnam, a cafe that’s a couple of minutes away from Yeontral Park.

I was first drawn to this cafe because:

1. Their menu of drinks and cakes looked amazing

And 2. They are also a dog-friendly cafe with a couple of menu items for them to enjoy as well :)

Their prices are fair, drinks range from ₩3,500-6,000 and their pastries and cakes are ₩4,000-9,500. I wanted to try their Salted Caramel Latte, a signature menu item, but I forgot my lactose intolerance medication. So instead, I ordered an iced Peach Earl Grey tea and a Basque Cheesecake. Two common items on Korean cafe menus are usually Americano and Peach Iced Tea, so I felt that it’s a good way to gauge how good a cafe is based off how well they make them.

Osds Yeonnam has two seating floors, and I chose to sit on the first floor. It’s a wide-open space that’s minimally decorated; a couple of tables are set next to a wall of patio windows, offering a perfect spot to enjoy the sunlight that’s pouring in. There’s also a couch if you prefer a more comfortable seating arrangement, and a pretty mirror on the wall so there are also a couple of nice photo spots if you like cute aesthetic cafe pictures.

I received my drink and cake, and the Peach Earl Grey Tea was quite good. Cafes tend to make peach tea too sweet, but this was just sweet enough and with small pieces of peach in the drink as well. The Basque cheesecake was also a good pairing as it has a light creamy taste. I spent the next couple of hours there studying, watching passersby walk past, and enjoying the cafe playlist which featured chill rnb.

At times, simple is best, and Osds Yeonnam is a cafe that embraces providing a comfortable environment for those who prefer a quieter atmosphere.
