I booked the Deahan Hanbok All Day Rental for August 14. I actually booked it the day before and got a confirmation email pretty quickly. My reservation was set for 9 AM.
On the morning of August 14, I took Line 3 to Gyeongbokgung Station and used Exit 4. As soon as I stepped outside, I spotted the Deahan Hanbok sign — it was impossible to miss. I headed up to the 2nd floor and showed the staff my reservation at the counter.
She told me I had the Normal Package. With that, I got to choose from three racks of dresses. Once I picked a dress, I’d move to the end of the row to choose a top. You can ask the staff for suggestions, or just grab one yourself, then line up to get dressed.
I took my time picking a dress. Honestly, three racks of options felt like a lot — I can’t even imagine the Premium package, which has even more. After a few mental battles, I finally chose a light pink hanbok with gold floral embroidery along the skirt. For the top, everything looked beautiful, but I went with one that had matching pink details so the whole outfit would coordinate.
Once I finalized my picks, I lined up to get dressed. There was a sign that said if you change your mind after getting dressed, there’s a ₩5,000 change fee. So… choose wisely. With the staff’s help, getting into the hanbok was surprisingly quick.
Back at the front desk, they mentioned a hair styling service to match your hanbok. It wasn’t included in the rental, but there were three tiers: Normal, Special, and Premium. I went with Normal. I got a ticket, headed to the 3rd floor, and lined up. When it was my turn, I handed over my ticket and said, “Style #1, please.” The stylist nodded and got to work — it only took a few minutes, and I loved the result.
Then I walked over to Gyeongbokgung Palace. Free admission if you’re wearing hanbok, so I got in without paying. The best part? Photos. I felt like I took a million of them. I was so happy running around the palace grounds.
But real talk: it was hot. By the time I was done, I was overheating and had to sit down in the shade to take a break. Pro tip — Deahan Hanbok offers free lockers, so I only brought my phone and the locker key to the palace. Game changer.
Around noon, I walked back to Deahan Hanbok to return everything. It’s just a short walk from the palace. I went up to the 4th floor to change, handed my hanbok back to the staff, grabbed my stuff from the locker, and headed out for lunch.
Overall: The whole process was super easy. I had so much fun wearing hanbok for the day, and I’d 100% recommend it if you’re visiting Seoul. Just pick your outfit carefully, stay hydrated, and bring a portable fan if it’s summer.
