Cat Playground in Myeongdong!

During my very first trip to Korea (and I’m going on 4th soon), the very first attraction I went to was… a cat cafe! Myeongdong was the area I went to right after landing and refreshing. As a huge cat lover, I couldn’t wait any longer to have a nice drink among furry friends I adore the most. Let me write about it here!
The cafe’s area is not that big, I would call it rather small. There was definitely a lot of people, which is to be expected, because it’s in the middle of busy Myeongdong.
Despite its size, there’s 60 cats there! In Europe, the cat cafes (from my experience) feature moggy cats or found on the street. In Korea however, the cafes always ensure they’re a mix of most popular breeds - ragdolls, scottish folds, munchkins, persians. They all look very different from one another and that’s very special!
The entrance costed 14000 WON with no time limit and drink included.
That was my lesson to be careful when it comes to English translation in Korea - the menu said „Grape Fruit Soda”, which made me think it was a grape soda, but it turned out to be grapefruit (which is always written together, so it was a misspelling) which I really hate 🙈 So sadly, I didn’t drink it. Maybe it was a lesson to ask next time. I wasn’t that upset about it though, because just time with kittens was worth it!
There were some toys around the cafe I could use to encourage them to interact with me. I got warned that some cats with specific collars shouldn’t be pet, just looked at.
I ended up walking around stroking them and taking many photos - my favorite one was the one sleeping on the table! Many of them were just having their mid-day nap. Watching them rest felt very peaceful.
I spent a good while in the cafe, and then set off to begin my Korea adventure. I would recommend visiting this cafe to anyone who happens to be in the area! It’s very cozy, features cats I have never seen before (even in other cat cafes in Korea!) and was a great start of my trip 🐱🐾
