✈️ Introduction
Hello everyone! If you’re planning your first independent trip to Korea, you’re probably like I was, you open the map and realize there are just too many places you want to go! From Gyeongbokgung Palace, Bukchon Hanok Village, Hongdae, and Myeongdong, to Lotte World, Gwangjang Market, and Haneul Park, every spot is so tempting. But if you don’t plan ahead, it’s easy to spend the whole time riding the subway and rushing from place to place, and you end up more tired than when you’re at work.
This time, I planned an 8 days, 7 nights independent trip in Seoul, with a different theme each day: culture, food, shopping, night views, an amusement park, beauty treatments, and relaxation, packed but never rushed. While planning, I also looked through lots of online spot guides, transportation info, and discount deals, which made everything go much more smoothly.
If you’re getting ready to head to Seoul too, I hope this post gives you some inspiration!

🔎 Day 1: Don’t rush into sightseeing, relax first
A lot of people start rushing to attractions the moment they land, but I actually recommend not packing your first day too full.
After several hours on the plane, plus immigration, baggage claim, and getting into the city, you’ve already used up a lot of energy. So we first went to a jjimjilbang near Incheon Airport to unwind and wash away the travel fatigue. After that, we headed to our hotel in Myeongdong to check in. In the evening, we took a walk along Cheonggyecheon Stream, enjoyed the Seoul night views, and slowly soaked in the city’s vibe.
I found this plan really comfortable, it also helps your body adjust to the travel rhythm and gets you ready for the next few days.

🏯 Day 2: Knock out the classic cultural sights in one go
If it’s your first time in Seoul, I highly recommend scheduling Gyeongbokgung Palace and Bukchon Hanok Village on the same day. They’re very close to each other, so you can take your time walking without constantly transferring between different forms of transportation.
Strolling through the small alleys of the hanok village, you can really feel the charm of Korea’s traditional architecture. And Gyeongbokgung Palace is one of the most representative places to get to know Korean history and culture. For lunch, consider trying a bowl of authentic Korean cold noodles nearby. Even though the weather was already getting a bit chilly, cold noodles are still a classic you can’t miss in Korea. The bouncy noodles with an icy, sweet-and-tangy broth taste especially refreshing, and it left a strong impression on me.

🎡 Day 3: Save a full day for Lotte World
If you like amusement parks, I really recommend setting aside a full day for Lotte World. The park is huge, and popular rides usually have long lines, so there’s no need to squeeze in other attractions. That way, you can truly enjoy the experience.
After a full day, we headed to Seongsu-dong’s super popular long-running restaurant, “Famous Gamjatang,” for dinner. It’s a spot locals love, and it’s also a must-eat for many visitors when they come to Seongsu.
The piping-hot pork bone and potato soup, with tender ribs simmered until perfectly flavorful and fluffy potatoes, was incredibly satisfying after walking all day, it instantly wiped away the fatigue.

🛍️ Days 4 and 5: Markets, food, and Seoul night views, all in one
One of the most appealing things about Korea to me is its traditional markets, each with its own character. Namdaemun Market is great for buying souvenirs and daily goods, while Gwangjang Market is packed with classic Korean street foods like mung bean pancakes, seaweed rice rolls, and raw beef, all popular must-tries that many people recommend.
In the afternoon, we went to Dongdaemun Design Plaza to take photos, then shopped at the nearby department stores. Before we knew it, time flew by. In the evening, we visited Naksan Park and looked out over Seoul from beside the city wall. Watching the sun slowly set and the city lights turn on one by one was truly romantic, it was easily one of my favorite night views of the whole trip.
After the day’s itinerary, we went to Euljiro for jajangmyeon. In Korea, besides BBQ and fried chicken, I also really recommend trying Korean-style jajangmyeon. The rich, slightly sweet black bean sauce with noodles is simple but super filling, the perfect way to end a packed day.

🌾 Day 6: Haneul Park and Hongdae, experience a different side of Seoul in one day
If you’re visiting Seoul in autumn, I highly recommend planning a trip to Haneul Park. Huge fields of golden silver grass sway in the wind, and the scenery feels completely different from the city, no matter how you shoot it, it’s full of fall vibes. In the afternoon, we headed to the Hongdae area. Besides shopping, you can also take a slow walk and soak up the youthful energy and street performances.
For dinner, we chose Okseok Salt Stone Grill, a Korean BBQ restaurant that’s very popular with locals. They grill fresh pork on a blazing hot stone plate with natural salt, giving it a lightly charred, fragrant exterior while keeping the inside juicy. It tastes great without heavy seasoning. Paired with lettuce wraps, kimchi, and a variety of Korean side dishes, it was incredibly satisfying, and the perfect way to end the day.

💆 Day 7: Try Korean beauty treatments and feel the stylish charm of Gangnam
On this trip, I specifically scheduled a Korean beauty treatment, so I placed it toward the later part of the itinerary. That way, you can freely take photos and shop during the first few days without worrying about recovery time affecting your plans, I think it’s a very useful approach to consider.
After the treatment, we took a relaxed walk along Celebrity Street, then went to Starfield Library to admire the spectacular giant book wall. The whole space is open and bright, and it looks distinctive from every angle, it’s also one of the most popular must-visit spots in Gangnam. At night, we planned to watch a male dance show. The exciting performance plus lively audience interaction filled the day with laughter and left us with unforgettable memories from this trip.
