When you think of Korea, you think beauty!!!
Even just walking around town, you will see clinics everywhere.
I had never done skin treatments before, but since I came all the way to Korea, I thought, why not give it a try? So I researched a lot while I was still in Japan and went ahead and made a reservation.
First, choosing a clinic, there are truly so many aesthetic clinics in Korea that I had absolutely no idea where to start. So I spent days gathering information while comparing posts on X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and Google reviews. I looked at photos and reviews from people who actually had treatments, feedback on staff service, and impressions from Japanese customers, then decided on a clinic that made me feel, “I can probably go here with peace of mind.” I checked not only positive reviews but negative ones as well, and booked after considering everything overall, which made me feel reassured even as a first-timer.
When I checked prices before booking, I was surprised at how many first-time deals and limited-time campaigns they had. Maybe because the competition is so intense in Korea, there were many plans that let you get treatments more affordably than in Japan, and I felt it was easy for first-timers to try, too. Some menus were much cheaper than the regular price, and just from the pricing alone, I really felt the appeal of getting beauty treatments in Korea.
After booking, I communicated with the clinic on LINE, and I was able to talk with no issues using only Japanese. Their replies were extremely fast, and they answered my questions carefully, so I never felt anxious. Since it was communication with a clinic overseas, I was a bit worried at first, but their Japanese support was solid, it is a clinic I would recommend to friends.
On the day, I headed there with plenty of time. However, the clinic was in the basement of the building and the entrance was a little hard to find, so I got a bit lost before arriving. It was close to the station, but I think it is safer for first-timers to leave with extra time. If you are cutting it close, you might panic, so for your first visit, I recommend arriving a little early.
Once inside, I was surprised at how clean the entire facility was. Everything from the reception to the waiting area was spotless, and it felt upscale while still calm and relaxing. I had this image that aesthetic clinics can feel a bit intimidating, but because the atmosphere inside was so nice, I was able to spend my time there feeling at ease. It felt like a special space, I got excited even though I had not done anything yet.
The reception staff were also very kind and greeted me with smiles. There were Japanese-speaking staff on-site, and all explanations were provided in Japanese, so even if you cannot speak Korean, you will not have any trouble at all. They explained the treatment details and precautions in an easy-to-understand way, and there was not a single moment where I felt uneasy. I was also surprised that the reception was separated by language and they could accommodate a wide range of languages like Chinese as well.
As for the treatment, they did not try to recommend other plans, and there was no so-called upselling. I was honestly surprised at how smoothly we moved straight to payment, haha.
After reception, I was guided to a locker with a key. Being able to store valuables and belongings safely made me feel comfortable even during the treatment. When traveling abroad, I sometimes worry a bit about managing my things, but having key lockers available really increased my sense of security and gave me the impression they were well equipped.
For my suitcase, the staff noticed it and took it at reception without me even having to ask from this side.
The face-washing area was also very spacious and felt clean. It was set up so each person could use it comfortably, and the mirrors were big, it was really pleasant. There was no rush while washing my face before the treatment, and I could prepare calmly.
The cleansing and face wash were cream types, and they were super moisturizing! I do not know what brand they were, but I liked them so much I wanted to buy them and take them home.
Maybe because the cleaning staff came by every few minutes, everything, including the mirrors, was very clean and it felt great.
It seems you can use this area after the treatment as well, and there was also a space to fix your hair and makeup. They had mirrors, hair dryers, and more, and I was happy I could tidy myself up before leaving. When traveling, you often head straight to your next plan, so I felt having facilities like this was extremely convenient.
Also, the waiting area had drinks available, and you could help yourself freely. It was an environment where you could relax before and after your treatment, and I could really feel the attention to detail in these small services.
For the actual treatment, I was able to get it at a great campaign price, so to be honest, I had a bit of worry like, “If it is cheap, what if the treatment is sloppy?” But I did not need to worry at all. The staff handled everything carefully, and during the treatment they checked in with me and talked me through each step. It never felt like they cut corners because of the price, if anything, it felt like I received service beyond what I paid.
During the treatment, everyone was kind, so even as my first skin treatment experience, I was able to relax. Whenever I asked questions about things I did not understand, they answered politely, and that really stuck with me, being able to ease my worries while receiving the treatment.
Also, the guy was handsome! Haha.
Right after the treatment, I felt like, did my skin get a bit brighter? Maybe? I was not sure and felt a little uneasy, but I started to feel the real change about two weeks later. (Honestly, right after, I could not tell if my skin was brighter or just red, lol.) The first thing I noticed was that my makeup went on much better than before. Foundation adhered more evenly, and the uneven tone that used to bother me became less noticeable. It felt like my skin overall became smoother, and every time I look in the mirror, I can really tell my skin is in better condition.
The redness I was worried about also calmed down, and the dullness that had been one of my original concerns improved too.
Another happy point was that my bare face looked better.
What I got was Dual Toning, and next time I would like to try other treatments too.
Of course, it is not like all skin concerns improve with just one session, but I was so satisfied that it made me think, “I want to do this again.” If I can feel this much of a difference and get it for about the price of a café visit, I thought I would want to use it every time I travel to Korea. Honestly, it makes me want to go to Korea for this purpose, haha.
…Looking back, this was my first time trying skin treatments in Korea, and it was an experience I was satisfied with in every way, the cleanliness of the facility, the staff service, the Japanese-language support, how well equipped it was, the price, and the treatment itself. I was a little nervous at first because it was a beauty clinic abroad, but the environment was set up so that Japanese visitors could use it with peace of mind, and there were hardly any moments where I felt anxious.
If you are interested in beauty while traveling in Korea, or you are thinking of trying skin treatments for the first time, I felt this was a clinic I could confidently recommend. Even though the price was reasonable, the service quality was high, and I could actually feel changes in my skin, so I definitely want to use the clinic I visited again. It became a highly satisfying skin treatment experience where I could truly understand, through my own experience, why Korean beauty is so popular.
