On this DIY trip to Korea, I visited Seoul’s lively Myeongdong, the gentle Hangang River, and the healing vibes of Itaewon, and I checked off countless social media famous spots. But the one experience I still can’t stop thinking about, and that still fills me with warmth whenever I look back, was without a doubt my photo shoot at Shihyunhada Hongdae Branch. Even though it’s been a while since the shoot in January, I still remember every detail vividly. Every moment felt relaxing and happy, easily the most healing and most memorable stop of my whole trip abroad. This time, I made a careful reservation in advance with the super popular photographer Teacher JIHO at Shihyunhada Hongdae Branch, and after the experience I can only say, I really chose right. Everything was comfortable and thoughtful, the vibe was perfect, and there were absolutely no unpleasant surprises.
That day I happened to be rushing around near Hongdae, dragging a huge suitcase as I made my way to Shihyunhada Hongdae Branch, and I was honestly pretty nervous. On one hand, I was in a foreign country and worried communication would be difficult because of the language barrier. On the other hand, taking photos with luggage is inconvenient, and I was afraid the process would be complicated and rushed. But the moment I walked in, two sweet front desk staff greeted me so warmly that all my awkwardness disappeared. I took out the reservation confirmation I’d prepared, and they carefully checked all the details, so gentle and patient. When they found out I was a foreign visitor and had luggage with me, they were extra considerate, they offered to keep an eye on my suitcase, and clearly explained how to get upstairs and the general flow of the shoot. Everything was explained so well that I immediately felt at ease.

After following the directions to the shooting floor, I waited quietly while Teacher JIHO got ready. While I was waiting, a staff member came right over to guide me in filling out the shoot information form. Since I’m not familiar with Korean or the professional photo options, I couldn’t really understand a lot of it, and communication was a bit challenging. But the staff were incredibly gentle the whole time. No matter how many times I asked, they explained everything patiently and clearly, and they even proactively used a translation tool to help. There was zero impatience, they slowly guided me through all the pre shoot registration, and the entire process felt so considerate and meticulous, it was a great experience.

Once I officially entered the studio room, the emotional value of the whole experience instantly hit the max! I’m honestly someone who really doesn’t like taking photos. In front of a camera I get nervous and stiff, my limbs feel awkward, I don’t know how to pose, and I always look unnatural in photos. So before the shoot, I was worried it would turn into a disaster, and that the whole session would be embarrassing and I wouldn’t get any good shots. But Teacher JIHO was truly super professional and amazingly good at calming clients down, I relaxed right away. The atmosphere throughout the shoot was light and fun, with none of that tense or awkward pressure.
Teacher JIHO guided me step by step, hands on and super detailed, from how to stand, how to sit, body angles, to my gaze and smile. Everything was adjusted carefully and taught patiently. The biggest bonus was how encouraging Teacher JIHO was. During the shoot, they kept sincerely praising me, “Wow, so pretty!” “So beautiful, this vibe is amazing!” The compliments weren’t empty politeness, they were the kind of perfectly timed affirmation that helped me slowly let go of my nerves and insecurity. Without even realizing it, my expressions became more natural, and my smile looked relaxed and lively, totally freeing me from my usual camera awkwardness. I have to say, Teacher JIHO’s ability to set the mood and bring out the best in clients is seriously impressive.
Then came the most difficult part, choosing the photos. Looking at all the polished, gorgeous results, I immediately fell into decision paralysis, I loved every single one and had no idea how to choose. When I was stuck and couldn’t decide, Teacher JIHO stayed right by my side and gently encouraged me, “You can do it! Trust your eye!” The warm support and patient companionship instantly helped me relax. Teacher JIHO also gave professional suggestions that matched my vibe and the mood of the photos, and they were truly aligned with my taste, helping me quickly narrow down the best final picks.
The communication during retouching was also exceptionally considerate and detailed. After the first round of edits, Teacher JIHO didn’t finalize anything right away, they proactively asked how I felt and what changes I wanted, respecting every one of my ideas. Whenever I didn’t understand the professional retouching terms, they immediately opened a translator to communicate quickly, making the whole process barrier free. They patiently adjusted the details and did their best to make sure I was 100% satisfied, the level of care honestly really moved me.

After the indoor shooting, photo selection, and retouching were all finished, I sat in the clean and comfortable lobby and waited quietly for the prints. After days of running around while traveling, this moment felt especially relaxing and peaceful. When I received the final photos, I was genuinely surprised, every shot looked natural and totally photo ready, perfectly capturing my softest, most relaxed state during the trip. Even more thoughtfully, after getting the photos, you can also freely take pictures in the shop’s beautiful little photo spots, which added lots of extra small surprises.

Looking back on the entire experience, from the welcome at the door, the initial registration, the shooting interaction, to choosing photos, retouching, and waiting to pick them up, every step was gentle and professional, with incredibly detailed service and so much emotional value. In an unfamiliar country, being able to have such a relaxing, healing experience at Shihyunhada Hongdae Branch truly made my Korea trip feel even more complete and beautiful. This wasn’t just a simple photo session, it became one of the warmest, most unforgettable little memories of my Seoul trip. I genuinely recommend it to anyone coming to Hongdae for photos, book Shihyunhada Hongdae Branch and reserve Teacher JIHO, the experience is a perfect score and you absolutely won’t regret it!
