✈️ Introduction
- I’d heard for a long time that vision correction surgery in Korea is reasonably priced and the quality is excellent, and this year I finally made up my mind to do it. After getting my corneas checked at an ophthalmology clinic in Taiwan and confirming I was eligible for laser vision correction, I decided to head to Korea for the procedure. After comparing several clinics, I chose BVIIT Eye Center, the same place my idol goddess Taeyeon also went to.
🔎 Detailed Review
- After arriving at the clinic on the morning of 2026/6/19, the on-site Chinese interpreter, Ms. Ma, was extremely professional and helpful. The tests were more than double what you typically get in Taiwan. One of them was a genetic test that isn’t available in Taiwan, they explained that if you have this gene, there’s a possibility of going blind decades after the laser procedure, so if the result is positive, you can’t proceed. The Korean side was much more careful and cautious about this. After a series of tests, I found out my corneas are very thick, most people are around 500, but mine were as thick as 600 (I’m not sure of the unit). She said I could even do laser correction twice with no problem, though I think I won’t need that XD. Between SMILE MONO at 2.4 million Korean won and the LBV laser surgery I wanted most at 3.2 million Korean won, I chose LBV because it handles short, mid, and long-distance focus more precisely compared with SMILE. SMILE only covers near and far focus, and the middle range can be less clear. The entire procedure took under five minutes. First, they used a LASIK machine to create the corneal cut, then moved to another machine to fine-tune the focusing afterward. At the whole clinic, only Director Ryu Ik-hee performs the LBV procedure, and he even canceled his afternoon leave and came back to the clinic to do my surgery, he was truly professional and I’m very grateful. Right after the procedure, I put on sunglasses and went shopping before heading back to the hotel. Since the afternoon sun was still strong, I wore them anyway even though the clinic said sunglasses weren’t necessary, I just felt it was better to protect my eyes right after surgery. I’d also recommend staying somewhere nearby if you’re coming for laser surgery, because after the procedure you really just want to rest your eyes. Ms. Ma also reminded me repeatedly that dry eye is more likely after LBV, but for me, it’s been about half a month and I haven’t really felt especially dry. I didn’t have much dry eye to begin with, so this probably depends on the individual, but I did faithfully finish all the prescribed eye drops (about 80,000 Korean won). After the laser procedure, my eyes were definitely more sensitive and I just wanted to go home and rest, so after my follow-up the next day, the doctor said my recovery looked good and I didn’t need a second visit, so I immediately changed my flight back to Taipei. Since I couldn’t drink or enjoy nightlife for a while, staying in Seoul felt a bit boring.

- I booked this laser surgery appointment through Creatrip. Since two people went together, there was a discount plus some basic perks, and I felt it was really convenient compared with booking directly with the clinic. After getting this laser procedure for myopia and presbyopia, I honestly feel it was totally worth it and the value for money is excellent. I also happened to catch a time when the Taiwan dollar strengthened against the Korean won, so the cost was about NT$66,000. Compared to over NT$130,000 in Taiwan, it was basically half price, and the technology and equipment were very good too. I really should have done it a few years earlier, it feels like getting a new life, and that’s the feeling every person has when they wake up each day after laser vision correction. One more thing that’s special about BVIIT Eye Center: their myopia and presbyopia laser procedure is only performed for people born in 1977 or later. Other eye clinics don’t have this restriction, so please keep that in mind if you’re planning to book.
