Every month in Seoul has a different flower season,
and rose season is mainly from mid May to late May, with some varieties lasting into June too.

Last year, I shot a rose photo set at Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon, Gyeonggi-do, Korea!

Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon is a Joseon-era fortress in Suwon, Gyeonggi-do, Korea, built between 1794 and 1796.
Its walls stretch nearly 6 km, combining military defense with architectural artistry. Because it is so well preserved, it was designated a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site in 1997.

When you visit Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon, these are must-see spots🔽
✨Hwaseong Haenggung Palace: King Jeongjo’s temporary palace, and also a filming location for many popular Korean dramas. It preserves magnificent old fortress walls and palace buildings. Not only was it a key filming spot for the classic historical drama Dae Jang Geum, the recent hit time-slip drama Lovely Runner also filmed extensively here and around Haenggung-dong nearby.

✨The Four Main Gates: Janganmun (North Gate), Paldalmun (South Gate), Hwaseomun (West Gate), and Changnyongmun (East Gate). These four gates form the core defense system of Hwaseong Fortress, showcasing late Joseon craftsmanship, and the fortress wall walking paths are well preserved.

✨Banghwasuryujeong Pavilion: Completed in 1794 (the 18th year of King Jeongjo’s reign), it was designated Korea’s Treasure No. 1709 in 2011 thanks to its distinctive layout and roof design. Nestled by the mountains and water, you can look east over Yeonmudae, and to the west you can take in Janganmun and Paldalsan Mountain in one view.
