Stepping Back in Time: A Family Day at Gyeongbokgung Palace
There is something completely magical about exploring a centuries-old royal palace, but experiencing it with family makes it unforgettable. On June 26, 2026, I took a trip to Seoul's iconic Gyeongbokgung Palace alongside my mom, my sister, and my nephew.
To fully immerse ourselves in the culture, we decided to do what everyone recommends: rent a traditional Korean Hanbok. It turned out to be the absolute highlight of our day.
The Perfect Fit: Daehan Hanbok Rental
Finding the right place can be overwhelming with so many options around the palace, but we hit the jackpot with Daehan Hanbok. Situated right by Gyeongbokgung Station (Exit 4), it made the start of our adventure incredibly smooth.

The experience inside was flawless:
The Selection: They have a vast, beautiful collection of over 1,500 hanbok styles for both men and women, ranging from classic traditional designs to premium royal outfits.

The Staff: The team here was amazing. They were incredibly helpful, guiding me to exactly the style I was looking for and making sure everyone in the family got the perfect size.
The Perks: Slipping into the outfits completely transformed the mood. Plus, a major bonus: wearing a hanbok gets you into Gyeongbokgung Palace for free!

Capturing Memories at the Palace
Walking through the great gates of Gyeongbokgung felt like stepping onto a historical K-drama set. Watching my nephew explore the grand pavilions and seeing my mom and sister framed against the traditional red pillars and sweeping roofs was spectacular.
Because the vibrant colors of our hanboks contrasted so perfectly with the stone pathways and ancient architecture, we ended up taking a ton of great photos. Every corner we turned—from the majestic Geunjeongjeon Hall to the serene pavilions—offered a perfect backdrop.
A Quick Tip for Travelers: If you visit during the summer months, plan your palace walk for earlier in the day or late afternoon, and remember to wear a light, comfortable undershirt underneath your hanbok top to stay cool and comfortable!

Final Thoughts
This trip was everything I hoped it would be. If you are planning a trip to Seoul, renting a hanbok and exploring Gyeongbokgung is an absolute must-do—especially if you are traveling with family.
I would definitely come back to Daehan Hanbok next time I visit the palace, and I highly recommend them to everyone looking for beautiful outfits and standout customer service.
Where to find them: Daehan Hanbok, 2F, 133-2 Sajik-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul.
