[Korea Gyeongju ZOOLUNG ZOOLUNG Indoor Zoo] Have fun even on rainy days, a healing time getting up close with adorable animals
On this trip to Korea, besides Seoul and Busan, I also set aside a day to explore Gyeongju. I used to think Gyeongju was all about historic sites, hanok villages, and heritage attractions, but I unexpectedly found a place that is perfect for families with kids, couples, and even animal lovers like me, ZOOLUNG ZOOLUNG Indoor Zoo.
Because the weather that day was a bit unstable, I was worried our plans might get disrupted. Then I saw tickets on Creatrip, and they were quite a bit cheaper than buying on-site, so I booked entry right away. After actually visiting, I felt it was totally worth it, and it became a really special memory from my Gyeongju trip.
Not long after entering, my eyes were immediately drawn to the toucan in front of me.
Before, I’d mostly only seen them from far away on TV shows or at zoos, so I didn’t expect to get this close here.
What surprised me most was that they weren’t afraid of people at all, calmly moving around on their perch, and sometimes even slowly walking near visitors.
That bright yellow beak is so distinctive, seeing it in person is even more striking than in photos.
I stood next to it for quite a while, watching it tilt its head and look around, it was unbelievably cute.
The inside of the zoo isn’t like a traditional zoo with rows of cages.
The whole space is designed with a tropical rainforest vibe.
The entrance area is filled with plants, wooden decor, and colorful pinwheels, and paired with warm lighting, it really feels like stepping into an adventure world.
A lot of visitors stop here to take photos.
I also made sure to take a souvenir photo, since it’s not every day you get to visit Gyeongju, I definitely wanted to capture the trip properly.
As you go further in, you’ll see an exhibit area designed like a cave and stream environment.
The blue pool paired with rocky landscaping makes the whole space feel very realistic.
Even though it’s an indoor facility, the environment is thoughtfully planned.
Different animals are placed in different zones according to their habits, so the visit never feels boring.
As you walk through, it feels like you’re exploring a natural eco park.
For those who love taking photos, there are plenty of great angles here too.
Another star of the zoo that left a strong impression on me was the tortoise.
The way it slowly moves around is genuinely soothing.
Even though it’s not fast, it always draws a crowd of visitors watching.
I stood there for a long time, watching it take step after step forward, and somehow I felt my mood calm down too.
Travel can be like that sometimes, it doesn’t always have to be about chasing exciting spots.
Sometimes simply observing animals living their lives is a comfortable kind of enjoyment.
Before you finish the visit, you’ll definitely pass through the gift shop area.
They sell lots of animal plushies, keychains, and souvenirs.
Everything is made with great detail.
Especially the plush section, it’s really easy to lose control.
Even though I tried hard not to buy too much in the end, I still couldn’t resist bringing home one small souvenir.
Seeing these cute items also makes you think back to all the animals you met inside.
Before leaving, I spotted this super beautiful flower wall.
The background made of rich purple and pink flowers looked incredibly dreamy.
Since I was already there, of course I had to take a commemorative photo.
The overall setup has that romantic vibe you often see at Korean attractions, and quite a few visitors line up to take photos here.
I grabbed the chance to record my trip while it wasn’t too crowded.
The photos turned out really well, and it became one of my favorite shots from this Gyeongju trip.
This time I booked my ticket through Creatrip.
The process was very simple, and after completing the purchase you can get your voucher right away.
According to the page details, once you receive the voucher you can enter once within 90 days, which makes scheduling very flexible.
If you already have a Gyeongju itinerary, buying in advance can save you time lining up to buy tickets on-site, and it also makes it easier to manage your travel budget.
I originally thought this would just be a spot for kids, but after visiting, I realized adults can have a lot of fun too.
The biggest advantage is the comfortable indoor space, it’s not affected by hot weather, rain, or winter cold.
Plus, the distance between the animals and visitors is very close, so you can observe their looks and behaviors in more detail.
The whole visit doesn’t feel rushed, and you don’t need to walk long distances the entire time.
For independent travelers, it’s a relatively easygoing plan.
If you’re planning a trip to Gyeongju, besides popular attractions like Bulguksa Temple, Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond, and Daereungwon Tomb Complex, I think ZOOLUNG ZOOLUNG is also well worth adding to your itinerary.
Especially for families, couples on a date, or friends who love animals, I’m sure you’ll find your own kind of fun here.
On this visit to Gyeongju, what I gained wasn’t just photos, but precious memories of meeting these adorable animals up close.
If I get the chance to visit Gyeongju again next time, I think I’d still want to come back to see these healing little animals.
