Sanrio Lovers Club is a cafe and merchandise shop in Hongdae, and as a Sanrio lover myself it was obvious I had to go check it out!
Even before entering Sanrio Lovers Club, their characters are everywhere; decorating the windows and having a soccer match right in front of the building.

There may be a line waiting outside, but those are for the cafe. The Sanrio Lovers Club cafe requires reservations which can be made on CatchTable and here’s a tip! Fridays and the weekends are usually a little harder to reserve so if possible I’d recommend getting one during the week at an early time!

What you don’t need a reservation for in Sanrio Lovers Club is the merchandise shop, which is located on the first floor. They have various goods ranging from small items like stationary to big items, like purses and large plushes! I was completely overwhelmed by the cuteness of everything in the merchandise shop, but that was just the beginning.

Across the merchandise shop is an adorable photo zone. Following the theme of a Sanrio Arcade, there are themed claw machines on the walls for characters like Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, and My Melody. I loved how each character had their own machine and the attention to detail they had in making it feel like an arcade. Next to the photo zone room is a photobooth, kiosks to make your own Sanrio photo cards and stickers, as well as Sanrio gacha machines.

The first floor also is where you can order your food and drinks from the cafe. They have a lot of fun menu items themed around various characters, like a Kuromi Purple Peach drink, and food items like a Pochaco roll cake. You can even get a Sanrio character drawn on your latte!

If you do have a cafe reservation, the staff will tell you to find a seat first on the second floor and then go back downstairs to order your food. The second floor of the cafe is divided into themed sections for each character: Hello Kitty, Pochaco, Pompompurin, Kuromi, My Melody, and Cinnamoroll. Right now Sanrio Lovers Club is also following the theme of “ Sanrio Lovers School ,'' so each of these rooms have a school theme like Pochaco’s looks like a gym and My Melody and Kuromi’s resemble a club radio broadcasting room.

The second floor also has another photo zone room separate from the character sections, where it’s a whole wall of Sanrio plushies! The lighting there can be quite pink, but regardless you can take so many cute photos, including mirror selfies as there is one right next to the plush wall.

During my visit, there weren’t that many people in my reservation, so I could freely move around and take photos without any interruption or photobombing. From the cafe, I got a Kuromi latte which made the photos I took even cuter and it tasted pretty good as well.

Overall it’s a 10/10 experience that I highly recommend for any Sanrio lover in Seoul!
